My Tamora is an October 2002 model.. the handbrake hasn't got the chrome gater on it.. when confronting the dealer about it.. he said only the cars delivered after the motor show would have it..and said trying to put one on now would mean modifying the entire console in the middle.. i've seen older Tamora's than mine with this gater and i'm not convinced totally with the dealers theory.. can anyone relate to this please..

Nick I've just had mine done at the factory, costing £150, and well worth it IMHO

Yep, I can confirm that it would mean modifying the entire console in the middle, or fitting a new one. I had mine done at the factory whilst it was having the engine rebuilt. They did it for me as part of some "compensation" upgrades. So you could always blow your engine up..............

Sounds very reasonable.. considering the console has to be modified as well.. worth doing then..

Sorry to dissapoint you, but your dealer is having you on! My Tamora was registered sept'02 but was in the showroom around August time and mine has the chrome surround! Again sorry to upset you, but it maybe some fire power for you to say that mine does

Agreed. Kings also has another Tamora in the showroom with the alloy bit from well before the Motor Show.

Nubbin, was your £150 all in? My car's in the factory now and I've been quoted £150 plus the alloy part which is about £50 meaning approx. £200 all in.

Cheers..... Andrew

Andrew, they charged me £150 for the whole thing, including re-trimming the centre console "plinth". £50 for the chrome bit seems a bit mean!

They just use a new fibreglass piece with the chrome insert, and re-trim the lot. It's had the added bonus of getting rid of all the glue marks around the gear lever gaiter - they must be getting slicker with the glue guns!!
