Will I survive ?
Discussion
Hi all. I know from checking out the other posts there is a wealth of experience and opinion in this forum. So I have a question. I'm planning to swop my (don't laugh) Scooby Impreza STI for a nice Red Bull T350. My driving and car control is no better than average and the four wheel drive and ABS of the Preza have got me out of trouble a few times. I've never had a rear drive car and I'm wondering how likely I am to fall off into the scenery in my prospective new chariot. Obviously this will depend on how hard I intend to drive but am I a bit mad for intending to switch from easy speed in the Scoob straight to 350Bhp in a rear drive beasty. Should I be aiming a bit lower to start with ?
I need your advice please.

Same advice from me.
You'll need to know that the TVR is going to be nothing like the Impreza.
You'll have to be very disciplined not to rev it when cold. This can be very frustrating if you get on a motorway before the car's warmed up.
You'll also have to check the oil etc. regularly between services.
You'll have to stop flooring the accelerator on every gear change and beware of accelerating on bends.
As long as you're prepared for this you'll love the TVR! Go for it!
Cheers.... Andrew

I changed from an Impreza Turbo to a Tuscan last year and had very similar concerns to yours. In fact when I test drove mine is was a damp day and I was so hesitant to use the Tuscan’s power the dealer actually told me to drive faster!! But you don’t need to worry, the TVR won’t bite as long as you respect its power to weight ratio, give yourself time to adjust to a very different driving style and remember to make sure you’re going in a straight line before you floor it – especially important when pulling out to overtake. I’d say the dry grip of my Tuscan is better than the Impreza, but in the wet (compared to an Impreza) I tend to imagine I’m driving on ice and use the throttle accordingly. Although the TVR’s wet grip is actually better than I thought it would be.
There’ll be days when you’ll miss the Impreza’s four wheel drive and the ability to drive cross country like a lunatic even when it’s pissing with rain, but the grin factor of a TVR far outweighs this
