Just came back from Stanstead Airport having left the Tamora parked for 4 days in the open and on the way back I hit 224mph!

There was me doing my usual motorway speed and all of a sudden the speedo started showing anything from 25mph to 224mph!!! (The LED was going all over the place, the needle was a bit more stable, but still very wrong). Then it totally died - i.e. showed 0mph then it came back on, then died, etc...

Anyone had this before? Anyone got any ideas what to check? It sounds like a loose wire someplace - I'd hate to have to go to a dealer for this...

Cheers for any advice...

had recently where it showed 0mph, put it down to TVR glitch but yours if it continues I would take it back, hit a fair speed yesterday myself and the top of the drivers window started to bend outwards, any clues how to stop it happening again??

I've seen some Tamoras that have a little plasticky gadget fitted to the top of the window for that purpose... i don't personally have it but than again I don't have that window problem either...

Sounds like one for your dealer.
Speaking of which who is your dealer now that Kings is no more?

Exactly! Who is my dealer
I have a good specialist that I go to in Reading but I figure that this kinda thing should be covered under warranty (even if it is the dodgy Spirit thing).

I live in SE16 in London... I figure the TVR Centre is probably my closest? Anyone go there? Would you recommend them?

Cheers, Dylan

I just had my Tuscan done under warranty at the TVR Centre (didn't buy it from there). They were very helpful and fixed my speedo problem - the analogue needle was all over the place before but now works fine. However, they did say that for any speedo faults they had to send the pod back to the factory for fixing as no dealerships can do this.

My tachometer needle once decided to whizz right round the dial, and stop there!. I threatened the car with a dealer visit, switched off, let the car settle for half a minute, switched back on, et voila!, all normal again. These cars are highly strung divas, and you gotta know how to talk to 'em!

Yeah, I agree...

I usually threaten not to wash it for a week and she normally behaves after that...

When my Tamora was back at the factory, they added some very small plastic brackets half way along both sides of the roof panel. These are apparently supposed to help guide the window in to place as it closes, but they may also help prevent your windows from blowing out at speed.

I have now had this problem or a variation twice. The first time, the analogue speedo went wild, but the digital was OK. This time, both have gone wild. But here is the really interesting bit, having also uncovered a serious glitch with my trip/odometer (reading 13-14% high), I now find that with the speedos bouncing all over the show that the trip/odometer climb at a rate of knots while the car is stationary (at about a mile every 20-30 seconds) - result, having covered 18 odd physical miles my trip meter was showing 109 miles. I now don't have a clue how many miles I have actually covered, but figure my odometer is current overreading by 1600-2000 miles. I was also unable to open the door with the engine running wjile stationary due to the interlock between speedo and door ecu. At this rate I am on course to have the first TVR to do the same mileage as a London bus!!!!

Ouch... And I thought I was having problems!!

I guess soon they will decide that Speedos are just a luxury and that a true driver's car doesn't need one?

Well, 2 weeks after service at the factory, and 6 days after my year's warranty expired, the spedos have gone to zero, the mirrors won't move, and the fan switch lights are out. All linked by the same fuse relay, but it looks like a trip back to the factory for the dash pod. I asked them to fix the speedo over-reading problem, but no, "only if they think it's over-reading" - well, they can well fix this one FOC!! Angry? BIG YES!!

Fixed it!! Spoke to HHC and they suggested replacing the relevant fuse, as they can break without it being obvious - so replace the relevant fuse if you have this problem.

Yes, Andrew, I didn't fancy a trip to the dealer, and all that messing around!
