Is it possible to get roll bars fitted on a Tamora? I just spoke to Tower View and although they do rollbars for the Griff and Chimaera, they don't do any for the Tamora.

I would have thought the one fitted in the T350c may fit? Ask the factory, just a thought? Rich...

Hi

I think you'll find the Tamora has a very solid roll bar built into the windscreen surround anyway. In addition to side intrusion bars in the door.

Its something that crosses us Griff owner's minds quite frequently actually!

i remember a thread somewhere around the time when the tamora was being finished off, which showed a pic of a bare chassis and body with mounting points for a rear roll bar. ask the factory i think.

There is a huge roll bar in the windscreen.

If you look closely at the picture below you will see the roll bar going up the A pillar and across the screen. I've seen two badly crashed Tamoras now and both of them survived a heavy impact to the windscreen.

Thanks. I have spoken to my dealer, who has checked with the factory who have confirmed that additional roll bars cannot be fitted to the Tamora as there is insufficient clearance between the seats and the roof.

IMHO that is not a totally satisfatory solution. The problem is there's no fore/aft bracing for the windscreen surround. If the inpact were in the fore/aft direction then it wouldn't take a huge force to deflect that roll back back into the cabin.

If you take a look at a Caterham FIA (diagonally cross-braced) roll bar you'll see what I mean. The standard Caterham one comes with two braces (towards the back of the car) but this, on a 500kg car, is considered insufficient for Trackdays run by the 7 Car Club (of course the race cars have full roll cages), therefore they insist you have a much more sturdy 'FIA' standard bar fitted. Now if you consider a car weighting at least twice this then I would want the added security of a rear roll bar as well (as in the Tuscan S6 with it's rear bracing).

Still its better than the flimsy bit of grp and laminated glass on a chim / Griff

I must admit one of the reasons a T350 appeals is the full meaty roll cage...
