Stone chips - protection
Discussion
A friend of mine has a newish Fiat Barchetta and he had some kind of a transparent protective nylon film glued to the front of the car to stop it from picking up all the stone-chips.
Anyone heard of anything similar for TVRs? The film is hardly noticable and seems like a pretty good way to save that £1000 for a front end respray ever so often...
By the way, how many are turning up on the 19th for the Tamora meet?

I have Armourfend on my Tamora and I think it's the best thing since sliced bread. Fully protective coating which is also transparent. I have also had it fitted to door seals (as my car was pre foot plates) to protect when getting in and out of car. Total cost was about 150 quid. Not bad I thought, only problem could be if you need any paint work done the lot has to come off which would definately mean a front end respray. Not a problem if done through insurance but a pain if you just want to touch up. Chances are with TVR colours you wouldn't be touching up anyway!

Dylan, I thought Armourfend was about £800? Talk to nubbin and hatchn as they both have it.
Also, try searching this site for Armoufend as there's been loads of threads about it.
Concensous seems to be that you can see where it ends so is better suited to light coloured cars.
Cheers... Andrew

My Armourfend cost £500, of which £100 was for the fitters to travel from Essex to fit the stuff - so if you are nearer their HQ, go to them. it's brilliant stuff, but I have got a couple of indelible marks on the film - not sure from what, but it's not fly residue. It pays to run a cloth along the edge of the film from time to time, using your fingernail, to clean the edge and make it less visible. Well worth it, overall.
