I wonder if anyone has considered trying to persuade the factory to put a Tuscan engine in the T350 to make the T390? No questions on strength (its a coupe) and no problems with a nice slippery shape....
I know that there were rumours of the 4.0 engine being in the first few Tamoras. But why not drop the 4.0 into the T' model and see what happens.... might be rather interesting... I'd buy one... would be faster than a Tuscan due to the better aerodynamics...
Plus hear that the racing T350's will be absolute corkers...
Cheers,
Paul

What was the story you got Christof? I quite fancy a Tamora with a bigger engine - although the 3.6 seems to be well sorted, whilst the 4.0l may be a little "tense", hence the problems. Maybe a close ratio box would be the way to quicker acceleration, because, (in this country, anyway) the top speed is largely irrelevant. A 0-100 dipping into the 8+secs would be mightily impressive!
I think, however, that I'll wait until they sort the back end of the Tamora out - the T350 has no rear exhaust box, or , more probably, it's under the "boot" floor - that's how they've managed to re-package the back end. Maybe I should just wait for the T350 soft top, which will be out in 2 year's time....

Suggest you talk again to the factory or Mole Valley as there is both a price and a specification against which dealers are accepting orders.
As before its an £8K cost to upgrade to the 390 engine and this includes a sequntial box.

Ok you are all wrong..yes you are..
They are not going to put the S engine in there at all.
For £8K, the talk is TVR producing a tuning package to take the 3.6 Litre engine to 400BHP, and with that will come the sequential gearbox and uprated brakes.
It may be possible to drop the sequential gearbox, thus saving £2-3K. None of this is certain yet and options are open....
Part of the reason this is not yet set in stone is that the factories right hand woman - Danielle - is away from the factory for a while and her replacement doesn't appear to have the same 'direct line' to Mr Wheeler.

Did somebody just suggest putting a T440 block in a Tam?
And another thing; what do all you Tamora boys think of the AJPV8s these days?
Is it just me or is the venerable flat plane cranker being somewhat pensioned off a bit at the mo?
Or is it just that the SP6 is the preferred jobbie these days?
{Must say, having just read the EVO Tuscan buying guide, dangerous yearnings are developing; oh God - £25-£30k for one of these babies? It's CRAZED vfm... )

you could be right, but I would be amazed that the factory would even contemplate another development of the six when they already have a version which puts our 390bhp
bear in mind that the 3.6 and 4.0 are the same physical engine. to extract 110bhp per litre from the 3.6L lump would require serious / costly modification and it would need to rev very high - cant see it happening when they already have an engine on the shelf....£10 says its a S engine as per the Tuscan if you want 390bhp

roop,
not sure if you have ever met her? I went on a tour of the factory with Flasher when his Tamora was being built and she spent a load of time showing us around and patiently answering hundreds of questions from the group i was with.
dont think this forum is for personal comments such as those you are making
Bennno
I know Danielle since she started her work at TVR and she was always very helpful and tried everything to make me a happy TVR owner.
She sent me an exhibitor pass for the motorshow and at the Motorshow she asked Mr. Wheeler if he would like to do my special order.
So I don't know how she treats her collegues, but for customer treatment she gets a "very good" from me.
And I'm with Benno, not often matey , it's not the right place to make personal comments
