Dash Weirdness - Tamora
Discussion
OK.
I had my fuel tank issues resolved by getting a new and this time suitably rated bulkhead plug installed in the petrol tank plate.
Since then I am having erroneous and intermittent readings on the dash LCD.
Water and oil temps way over 100. Fuel level being 62 litres. Outside temp being 40+ and then getting the black ice temp alarm flash on the dash. Alternator charging rate of 12.9 or 13V. Zero oil pressure.
I also get multiple alarm warnings flash up of water temp, oil pressure, oil temp, oil sender.
No issues with the physical running of the car. Fans kick in and out. Fluids aren't exploding out of the hoses. Fluids aren't mixing. Alternator giving 14V at the 125amp fuse.
Then it just clears and the screen displays correctly. It ran al the way from MSmith's today - motorway, A-roads and heavy town driving with the dash acting up. Stalled doing the three point turn outside my house. It was very slow to start again, like the battery was flat, but then the dash was reading fine.
I swapped the dash ECU in from the Sag and it did the same errors.
Other than the fuel tank plate and associated wiring, there has been a new alternator, battery feed to the alternator and that is it.
Any thoughts on where to start. I think it might be an earthing issue / connection with either of the fuel pumps or the fuel sender. Anyoneelse had similar? How did it get resolved?
Thank you.

I have just learned that the sensors in the rear of the car come out via a cable on the right-hand side (through the wheel arch and sill) in the driver's footwell on the right and lead into a 25-pin connector. From there it continues to the dash ECU.
If you are also experiencing the phenomena for the front sensors (oil temperature and so on), it is probably not the cables leading to the rear.
I would most likely start at the earth points, i.e. in the passenger footwell to the battery (note that the connection is bolted from both sides) and at the height of the right front wheel (chassis to engine).

I got the tank plate modified to accept one of these - https://www.efisolutions.com.au/electrical-bulkhea...
My SiL lives in Sweden where I was able to source a couple of the same.
There are bolt on versions of this type of plug.
I also had the petrol 'flow' pipe on the tank plate replaced with a longer item with a bend internally to accept the pump hose 'straight' and allow two hose clamps to be fitted. The reason for this is that the standard pipe is straight - meaning the hose needs to bend to fit on to it, which pushes the hose down towards the metal edge of the opening throuigh the baffel plate. It is also around 25mm long and barely long enough for a single hose clamp. Two fresh pumps installed into the tank and the hose kept blowing off!

I bought my new pumps from 'fuel pumps online' and they were a straight swap. In fairness, I only did the pipe as the plate was being modded for the plug boss.
I've actually had two done as I bought a spare tank with plates for the white plug - that the seller said was present and it wasn't! Mat Smith has dibs on my spare tank as he has a Tamora in for resto and the tank was full of jelly and holes.
