235/35/18s are like hens teeth. What’s best - 225/35/18 or 225/40/18 or 235/40/18? I’d love the 40 profile tyres on the front but everything I read says there’s a chance of rubbing on the arch liners. There are too many tyre threads so can someone please give me a definitive answer?

I don't think you can find a "definitive" answer as each car is slightly different, so even if 235/40/18 worked on someone's car, it might rub on yours. I'm in the same position as you and would like to move to the 40 profile. I was thinking of going to my local tyre place and seeing if they had a couple of worn ones they could put on just to see if they fitted.

You’re probably right. I’m picking mine up from TVR101 this morning. I’ll have a chat with Woody and the team and report back.

Ok, so I’ve double checked my tyre sizes and I’ve got 225/35/18 on the front and 235/40/18 on the rear. Having had a chat to Woodie, who also finds getting tyres a challenge, there isn’t a lot in it between 225/40 and 235/35. If necessary the suspension can be adjusted to compensate. So what I’m going to do is get 225/40/18 on the front and 235/40/18 for the rear. I do not need any more traction than that. Now I just need to find the right tyre…..

There is absolute garbage spouted about tyre sizes for 18 inch rims on the T cars.

Tamora (with 16-inch wheels) and Sag were both sold with the same size tyre all round. TVR wanted to fit the same size all round with 18 inch tyres on the T350 and Tam but screwed up the inner arch dims. Rather than changing the bucks they compromised with different tyre sizes front and rear.

I run 225/40/18 all round on the Tam and now 225/50/16 (factory size) for trackdays. I have done trackdays on both sets and never been short of grip. Plenty posted the car would be undriveable biglaughbiglaugh

I had a rub on one side in the front arch when I went to 225/40. Which turned out to be one of the lamp access covers. I made a new one up with a recess in it. I suspect it could have been resolved with a geo tweak but I have a track / fast road set up from the TVR Tickler which has a nose down stance and didn't want to change this. All been good in the last 6-years.

I look forward to hearing how you get on. I'm running 225/35/18 Michelin SuperSport on the front and 235/40/18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 on the rear. Will probably change to 225/40/18 Pilot Sport 4 on the front, if they fit, as the SS's are getting a bit old. It's a T350.

As has been said each car seems different. I have rainsport 3 tyres 235/40/18 on the front 245/40/18 on the rear with no problems 225's on the front don't look wide enough on 81/2inch rims
