I can't really help with history (there isn't any) but I looked at this car late in September with/for a friend. It's had some mechanical work done (I believe to a good standard) but there are no bills. To be honest, the presentation was poor. It was a lot tattier than expected with work needed on a tired interior, roof and some body parts. (A large hole in the passenger side mirror casing and a rip in the rear window aren't mentioned in the ad!)

The wheels were in need of some refurb work and overall it wasn't for my friend. We decided this much without even driving it, so I can't tell you anything about that. In the right hands and with fair amount of TLC (and money) it would probably make quite a nice car - but the price reflects the amount of cash you'd need to invest to get it there.

Hope that help...

This 3,605cc TVR Tamora was acquired by the vendor 10 years ago and used regularly by him until he garaged and stored for four years. When it was recommissioned, by Matt Smith Sports Cars, the vendor tells us it was at a cost of £10,000. This involved getting the engine rebuilt, the gearbox reconditioned, and a new clutch, starter motor, alternator and tyres fitted. The engine was also treated to a new coil pack and leads. Since being MoT'd again in July of last year (at 62,531 miles), the car has been garaged and only used on dry days, reports the vendor. The paperwork file contains very little history.

Some info there from the auction it was sold at.

Interesting that 'Lot location' is stated as Kings Lynn, Norfolk. We viewed it in Lymington on the south coast, just 2 months ago.

Ah, just realised, auction closed in June 2021. Clearly it's moved since then but it was a dealer selling it. Closing bid, £16,250.

Engine rebuilt maybe, but much work needed, high miles and a worrying lack of history.

It needs to be a fair bit cheaper before it represents any sort of value, IMO.

I can only add if Mat did the work, it's top notch.

That's what pb450 said above. Unfortunately, there are no bills to show what was done, which is odd. A prospective buyer could contact Mat Smith Sports cars.

It probably doesn't matter what work was done on the car, because as pb450 said, it was a poorly presented, tatty car, with a big hole in the mirror casing and a torn rear window.

The car was also auctioned in 2021, by a seller who had owned the car for 10 years, but hadn't used it for 4 years, (the MOT history says that it was over 5 years) and there was hardly any paperwork, which isn't reassuring.

The car was last MOT'd in July 2020 at 62,531 miles, and it is advertised now at 62,000 miles, presumably rounded down, so it hasn't really been used again for over 2 years. Presumably it was bought by the dealer at auction who is still trying to sell it. From pb450's comments, it doesn't seem that the dealer has done much preparation or repaired the obvious problems that put off pb450's friend and presumably others who have considered purchasing the car, which again is surprising.

If you look at the MOT history, it doesn't seem to have been a well cared for car. It was submitted for tests with faults that must have been obvious failures to the owner. Even if they didn't notice non-working lights and windscreen washers, surely they must have noticed the missing number plate and the indicators that had fallen off or been stolen!

Sadly your not likely to get former owners on PH anymore but you will get people with their opinions which stands for nothing other than in their own mind.
Thankfully one contributor has actually viewed the car and probably rightly considered it to be a risk at the money.

OMG it has a tear in the rear screen and a hole in a mirror cover and a few other issues….
No number plate,,, it’s bound to be a pup, or it could be an opportunity to purchase a tatty but mechanically well prepared car cheap.
As Matt worked on it simply ask him if you are interested then go in at a price that reflects the risk.
I don’t think discussing it on here will help you or the vendor very much…… sadly frown

Morning
I am the friend that viewed the Tamora with pb450 and I managed to get a fair amount of information on this car ,the previous owner was Tim Covill who is on Facebook but never replied to my messages (you can find posts from him on the TVR Tamora Owners page -last one is around April 2021),I had a great chat with Mat Smith who confirmed that he had worked on this car ,the engine rebuild was a head recondition only and nothing was done to the block ,he change over the ECU due to an electrical fault which caused a small fire and was not sure about any work done on the clutch but he thinks it was ok, as pb450 stated the car is in need of a lot of TLC which the seller did not inform me of during all the correspondence we had with regards to bodywork damage ,hole in the rear screen, all wheels need refurbishment , drive seat and interior in need of attention ,Mat did manage to find some invoices but once I had viewed the car I didn't need them .If you are looking for a project then it will do someone ;at the right price

Why won't it? Peoples opinions are helpful. The person who has viewed it has commented. The vendor seems to have been stuck with it for at least a year in a used car market that was supposedly the most buoyant that it had ever been. That points to a problem. When something has hung around for a long time unsold there is usually a problem, and you go along to view it, and you just become the latest people to see the problem that put off all the previous prospective buyers. Usually it is price. Most things sell at the right price.

The price being asked is the auction price plus £4k. What are you getting for your £4K? Why haven't the faults that the people have posted above, having viewed the car been fixed by the dealer? The car doesn't even have an MOT, so you can't test drive it on a public road legally. Has anything been done to the car since it arrived from the auction?

I also don't think that it helps that it is for sale on the vendor's website for £20,750 and on a classic car auction site with a listing of 29/11/22 at £21,750.

Still over £1k more than it was sold for at auction in June 2021. MoT expired in July 2021 too.

Plus a nice looking blue one on Evilbay at £17.5k if someone is looking for a runner with scope to 'improve'.

Me?

No, not looked at the car. Very happy with my Tam.

Advert and pictures shows enough for me to decide (if I were in the market for a rolling project) if I would go and see it. That decision is likely to differ from your decision.
