Sag's appreciating in value?

Reading through the "What if sell my Sagaris thread" there was a comment made about Sag's continuing to appreciate in value.
Whats the thought on this statement. They seem to have had a ceiling top value of about £80k now for a few years with I guess most cars trading at between £65k and £75k. So to me while they have obviously increased in value markedly probably since about 2013/2014 - they now seem to have stopped for a while now with not much movement since about 2018

I've only really been following TVR prices for 18 months or so, and I'd say it appeared that Sags were all under £70k last year but they're all over £70k this year.
I am using the highly unscientific method of my memory so may be utterly wrong and in fact may not have even been looking at Sagaris prices
I've got a Chim 500 but I've been watching Sagaris and Tuscan S2 prices as I feel they'd make a nice pair.

It's always been the under 10k miles mint Sags that have sold in the £80k region, although you'll see some chancers putting 30k-40k 5 owner cars in that price bracket. I think the low mileage cars are going to collectors hence the values.

If I remember the thread correctly... I may well have said they've appreciated, rather than appreciating, which I dare say is the case with most TVR's anyway.
Looking at PHeads classifieds now, there are 4 sags at 70, 80, 80 and 85K. I remember ten years ago when an LS swapped and newly registered (at the time) sag was on for 80K and that was easily a 20-25K jump over the rest. I think the forums thought it mad at the time and I know it didn't sell because the guy who owned it was rebuilding my old cerb bottom end. It was an absolute missile though.
To answer it bluntly, no idea what they could be worth but they still seem to be appreciating if the 85K is anything to go by.

£39,000 buys you a 2005, 5 owner, 38,500 Tuscan 2.
No way is a 2006 Sagaris £30K better than a 2005 Tuscan. A Sagaris is only a "pimp-my-ride T350 anyway. Some of that change spent wisely, can make it better and faster than a Sagaris.

What I said was '.....continuing to appreciate in value'. I'm a long time Sag owner (since 2005) and when I look at the prices now they have appreciated considerably in that time. I'm not someone that checks prices every month or year and I'm sure they have gone up and down during that period. But overall I've no complaints about today's values and see no reason to believe they won't continue to rise further long term.Englishman said:

Got it - I was just looking at since about 2018 when the top value was about 85k etc. Not much appreciation since then, 85k seems to be the ceiling. Whereas my Lotus has increased markedly in the last 2 yearsI bought my Sag last year. I have had 2 people offer me considerably more than what I paid for it (i'm not selling nor do I have any intention of selling) but they seem to be holding their money at the very least and in some cases appreciating. I honestly believe when the American market opens up we will see a jump in prices. I didn't buy mine as in investment, bought it to drive and have fun in and for that it has been absolutely perfect.
They may keep increasing, they may not but to be honest it doesn't matter, they are iconic cars even if they are according to some just a pimp my ride t350 that should be used and enjoyed.

Not a jester, but the TVR car club themselves and if you cannot see the close similarities inside and out, then you need a trip to that well known opticians!The Sagaris was launched at the MPH03 Autoshow and the pre-production model was shown at the 2004 Birmingham motor show. Based on the T350.

Of course I can see the similarities, a blind dog could see them even without going to a well known opticians, but they are different cars, i have a Tuscan S Mk2 as well, same engine similar chassis but completely different cars to drive. Yes you could spend the difference in price on making a t350 (which are also great cars) as capable if not more so but at the end of the day it is still a t350 and not a Sag. The number of owners is pretty much irrelevant on a car like a TVR it's condition and how it's been looked after is more important. I think I'm the 7th Owner of my 2005 car, I couldn't care a hoot.

For what a Sag is worth.... Is it more valuable than a Clio V6 Ph2? According to the market, no.
In real terms, yes it is.
However.
We will have to wait until after the next recession and boom to see it. No-one wants to spend over £100k on ANY TVR - our Typhon friends can attest to that.
I think I am keeping it, nothing comes close.

As usual,you are falling into the trap of comparing early T350 ( often very well used!) prices with Sags.
Please compare Sag prices with 2005/6 T350s with low mileage .
Then try to find a low mileage 2005/6 T350T to compare with the Sag.
Suddenly,you will find these are Much rarer than Sags and not necessarily any cheaper (assuming you can find one).

There were more T350s built than Tuscans in 2003 and 2004 .
Rarity depends upon the number TVR built , which depended upon customer demand , or if they were ending production. Why did customers want to buy Chims and not Griffs ? or Tuscans and not Tams ?

As usual on here, Sag owners will be biased to Sags, Tuscans to Tuscans etc... and I am going to follow the trend!
Having done the rounds with all of the production TVRs back to Chims (Tamora aside), I settled on the T350T as the best of the bunch. They have the rarity factor, the wind in the hair experience whilst still retaining drop dead gorgeous looks, and if you get a good one they'll keep a Sagaris honest. Tuscans drive like boats in comparison. My T350 is a 4 litre Red Rose with Bilsteins and I could drive it as quickly down an A-road as I could my old Sag.
Are Sags appreciating? A very small sample size, but my old Spectraflair Sag is up for sale at Shmoo; it's absolutely concours in every regard (or it certainly was when I had it), yet it has been reduced by £5k and still isn't selling. My personal view is that the very best T350Ts will close the gap on Sags - I think for the short to medium term Sags have peaked, whereas the T350Ts still have a short way to go. That said, the Sag will always, always be the most valuable production TVR, I cannot see this ever changing.
