Footwell hot air blast
Discussion
Check the panel between the near side headlamp apperture(with the rubber circular head lamp access blank in it) and the engine / radiator is air tight.
Mine had the top half missing, made a new top panel and resealed all round
Also resealed the “flapper” with new foam and put in an additional duct through the front splitter vane up into the headlamp void (a black PVC rainwater shoe from Wickes for ££2.50) to get more cold air in.
A great improvement

Have you checked the heater flap setting?
The upper and the lower air vents are both connected to the warm/hot air. Correct heater flap setting should avoid hot air blown into that part of the system when you switched to cold air.
