CHEAP T350 IN CLASSIFIEDS ?
Discussion
https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/12015577 Anyone know this car seams a bit cheap for such a low miles?
Wow, it does look pretty tidy except the stalks and metallic switches seem quite scratched up. Those switches are quite delicate and need very light finger touch to turn, I wonder how they get so scratched up.
It would be interesting to hear the condition of the engine. My one was so well looked after, warmed up properly before every drive, serviced annually even with only 2000 miles done each year and yet the engine went unexpectedly. It required a full refurb in the end.
But that is a very attractive price.

Cheap? No way.
The paintwork is fooked - looks like it also has a few starbursts in the GRP. Thats not a quick blowover required - 6k min I'd say for paint.
Interior - it looks like that horrid bison vinyl rather than leather, especially given the way it's cracking.
Interior metal work needs way more than a bit of autosol
Wheel refurb? Look at the inside areas of the spokes - absolutely shocking job.
No engine rebuild or decent history. Who's recommissioned it?
It's a 2002 car, has the early glovebox lid. Can't see if it has sunvisors or the boot finger recess which it shouldn't have for the age - but it has the boot roller blind which appeared on the 04 cars along with the aforementioned.
Add all the work up they state - how on earth does that equal a 20k refresh as well?
Even then, you'd still only have a very early car with little previous history for, once sorted, the price of a decent later one with full leather, likely a rebuild and good history.

£27k, is that cheap? (Or is it you selling the car?)
Ha Ha No mine is a 55 plate Curious as cheap from a dealer compared to the rest for sale
As mentioned 13 year mot gap, no mention of service history ,engine condition or any chassis / engine pics. dealer is mainly a pork man so maybe a part ex he wants to shift ?

What has been done for the £20k?
That's going to end up a very expensive car for someone if they pay anywhere near the asking price
Fallen into the trap ( almost?) of comparing a tatty early car? with a good late eh 2005/6 T350, apples and oranges scenario.
Eg,Original early cooling system couldn't have been satisfactory? Otherwise why did later models have significant changes .
Though in absolute terms it is a low price, but is it low enough?
I suppose if you want a car that cannot depreciate anymore and you aren't worried about cosmetics Eg paint etc, assuming the mechanicals are ok
and you are prepared to take a risk with the history? It looks like 13K of hard miles, at least on the paint.
It would certainly be a good idea to look closely for any other chronological oddities, like the rear cover( some did have them retrofitted at the factory?
You certainly want to sure the "tatty", body is only tatty paint and not structurally bashed/ failing fibreglass.

Look at the seatbelt buckle and how furry it is, alongside the shabbiness of all the other interior metalwork. My guess is it’s been kept poorly under a cover, the damp has become trapped under the surface which has affected the paint too. They do not cope well outdoors, particularly if kept under cover.
I have been to see this car, the dealer seems to be a decent guy, and seemed very open about the cars condition, and is selling it on behalf of a contact.
The paint is shot, it needs a total paint job, and im guessing bodywork too as apparently the owner has been quoted 8k for the respray. Even where there are no blisters there are scratches.
Apparently the owner stored it for a couple of years with a thick blanket underneath the cover, and that is what caused the blistering ! as it became waterlogged.

Was there any mention of the chassis and any more detail into what the rest of the 20k restoration work was spent on?The paint is shot, it needs a total paint job, and im guessing bodywork too as apparently the owner has been quoted 8k for the respray. Think there was a link within the details on the dealers website that listed everything, but advert seems to have been taken off now. Maybe sold, as the Dealer mentioned on Tuesday that someone was coming to see it, and they were not bothered by the paint as long as it was mechanically sound... I think if true, they would have had a shock as apart from the blisters everywhere the roof looked like Torvill & Dean had been skating on it....
