Looking for a weekend/trackday toy and have always fancied a TVR.

Should I have any concern over parts availability over the coming years?

Thanks

Would think you’ll have no issues. Maybe not OEM parts but good quality upgrades will be available.

Aside from the funky body and a few engine bits, it's a very simple car. So I would say enjoy.

I would also say get another car as a track day toy. They are brilliant, but there are much better things out there now. They are just about 20 years old and feel it on the track. It will be faster than F430s and the like, but much newer than that....

I am surprised it is faster than an f430. I don’t think my old speed 6 cerbera would have been, is the Sag that much better chassis, power, lighter?

Mine is more powerful than normal, but I have gone straight past F430s, most 458s on track (trust me I'm no peddler of cars). Cars that beat me - Atoms, xbow, powerful Caterham, all McLarens, Aventadors, Enzo, CGT, Radicals, GT3RS.... The list goes on.

Sag's are good, but they are a sports car that is a lot of fun on track. As a special fast thing - well a friend describes it as a mobile exorcist. People's head keep spinning around. But there are better things out there.

Still would never sell it mind you.

I found the F430 to be quick around Bedford, higher top speeds on the straights than 996 gt3, that is why I asked as they are 480 brake and pretty decent suspension etc.

Mine is around the 450bhp area and I think the general accepted weight of a Sag is around 1150 wet (might be wrong though). Mine is slightly lighter with carbon use, less weight in the engine blah blah blah. Shame I add 10+% of the car back into it just by getting in...

An F430 is, purely objectively, in a different league to a Sag in virtually any condition and any environment I can think of. I’m not a track driver, but I cannot imagine that any TVR is particularly well equipped to be a track car; it’s just not what they’re about.

I had one. It felt like a big bus compared to the Sag. If you remember the old top gear lap times, the Sag was up there...

From a driving perspective, it walked all over the Sag (and every other TVR for that matter) in every department in my experience, EXCEPT for the one that really matters, which is enjoyment. You just had to be wringing the F430’s neck everywhere for it to be truly thrilling. Whereas a TVR thrills at any speed in any gear regardless of the situation, which is why the F430 was sold and I’m back in a Cerbera. It seems your Sag is by no way standard either, mine was totally original. The F430 was nearly 2 seconds quicker than the Sag around the TG circuit, and so it should have been.

Anyway. Slightly off topic. With regards to parts availability, I think you shouldn’t be concerned OP. There is a full cottage industry supporting the upkeep of our fabulous cars.

I know my Cerbera felt very fast and was pretty quick on track

F430 on TG was indeed 2 seconds faster with the same Stig.

That is what I found when driving a friend's 430. It was just too fast to enjoy on our rubbish roads and without running the risk of losing my licence.

That said, I don't have a Sag, 'only' a Tamora. But I don't like a car with a roof!

Slightly more on topic, I feel it is more important to have the most fun going around a track, rather than going around the fastest!

Completely on topic, no you should have no concerns about parts. You will need to do an annual service at one of the specialists but in performance car terms they are not expensive.

The sagaris on top gear was probably on Goodyear eagle f1s lol, there are much faster cars now. Anything with a duel clutch box. The problem with tvr is the small width tyres. But a well driven sag will easily lap with a f430.

If your after lap times there are plenty better cars but for enjoyment a tvr is brilliant.

you could always go this route for top trumps on track and cheaper than a road version. No problem with parts availability. It will make your eyes bleed.

Slightly off topic I just read your write up of the day you bought Saggy very amusing and strangely similar to my own experience at Str8six. I was lost as soon as they took the cover off, it was mine in that instant regardless of the outcome of any hagglingsmile

I was quite nervous too on the test drive which is odd because I'm quite confident behind the wheel of anything. I hired a testarossa on my wedding weekend 30 years ago and that was less daunting driving that monster round the Cotswoldshehe

Hope some of you Saggy guys are going to Millbrook so I can have a look at some of your mods/enhancements.

Back to the OP just buy one there's nothing like it for the buzz

You did say further up in your earlier post to "get something else". So i was just suggesting something else that looks similar and cheaper than a Sagaris and certainly blows away most high performance super cars on offer today.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the name continuing. But it's not a road car, not a Sagaris and there are much faster, nicer cars than the original on track and street.

But.

It does look amazing, is no doubt honkingly quick and who doesn't like a homage?
But IIRC it wasn't about a pure track car.

Keep scaring people on the tracks, you do have a fan here.
