I'm trying to remove the gear stick on my Tam to install a titanium one. I've removed the grub screw at the base of the shaft and it twists and moves up about 5mm, but won't move any further.
Is there a knack to removing it or is there something else I need to undo too?
Really don't want to damage anything trying to force it.
Thanks, Matt

Matt, I replaced my gearstick with one that doesn't conduct heat to the 'knob'. Bought from a fellow PH'er.

The grub screw (allen head) is the only fixing to the shaft protruding from the top of the 'box.

My thoughts at the moment are to undo it some more and see if you can lift off. IIRC, the grub screw 'lands' onto a flat on the shaft....your flat may just have a more pronounced shoulder?

With some heating from a hair dryer and copious wiggling up and down and and a bit of twisting I finally got my stick off. (And almost a black eye in the process!).
Must have been a little bit of corrosion or knurling where the grub screw contacts the shaft stopping it coming off.
Now just to get the bolt holding the shaft onto the anti-vibration mount undone!
