TVR t350 heater problems
Discussion
Hi all
Sorry for the questions but the T350 is new to me and I’m working my way through the niggles.
Now the heater!!! When I start the car the heater seems to work ok, getting nice and warm and then for no reason will just shut off.
Lights disappear and turning it on and off does nothing.
Park up and start hours later and comes back on again, with the lights lit up, only to switch off again!! Any ideas???
I have just got the ECU back after losing all the mileage data etc and a new CR battery was
fitted at the same time.
Cheers

Have you taken a look at the small heater amplifier circuit board that runs the heater/fans, Its located up under the dash in the passenger footwell, The socket and plug on this are a common failure as they have a habit of melting. This tends to cause the sort of issue you are experiencing.
Check the ribbon cables are plugged into the dash ECU properly (dash ECU is to the right of the pedal box).
Check the ribbon cables are ok along their length and connected properly at the dash control ends too, but that needs the dash pod out (recessed bolt on either side of pod accessed from below, then slide pod out).
Is it the fans that stop working or fans work but no hot air?

Its most likely the heater control unit packing up.
It normally lives under the dash on the passenger side, has two large capacitors on it.
Disconnect and check the plug. It's probably burnt.
If there is no sign of the caps leaking or the plug being burnt maybe its something on the dash. This is easiest to check first though and most common.
But since it still sorta works, you can probably just bring it to your local electronics repair shop (its a very simple device) and they will know what to do for a few quid. Or order a new one.
