So the old girl needs some tlc, the clutch slave seals have chucked in the towel after 18 years so they will need to be replaced.

It's not a cheap job I understand as the gearbox needs to be removed. The parts are not expensive about £30 unless I opt to replace the slave cylinder unit rather than just do the seals.

If I am going to the expense of having the box removed to sort the clutch, what else would you proactively replace or upgrade as it is likely to be a parts only cost as the labour is covered by sorting the clutch out

Replace engine Mounts - https://www.sc-power.co.uk/pages/sc-power-engine-m... . The recommendations I had were use the SC uprated one on the exhaust side and a standard one on the airbox side.
I also replace the gearbox mounts rubbers with new.

Perhaps also worth considering a lightened and balanced flywheel. I'd do as many seals as you can and check all the mounts as per the post above. Prop shaft mounts!?

Also have a good look at the chassis whilst up on the ramp, had my slave seals done not so long ago, main clutch was ok with little wear at 30k miles and fingers still intact, 4 hours labour and £300 in total for the slave refurb, got off lightly there methinks smile

It is CR with a 3.73:1 diff. It goes like a stabbed rat from a standing start. Clutch is on 40k, same miles as the car but I treat it sympathetically so hopefully there is some life left in it.

My clutch was changed as the master was leaking. Wish I'd left it in as suprisingly little wear at about 75k miles....I'm easy on the clutch!
Shep maybe get a refurb of the gearbox, we know the issues getting reverse and 1st to 2nd is sometimes sticky when cold so the synchros take a battering and well worth doing while it's out. And get your garage to put Royal Purple oil in, it makes the change much better.

Surprisingly 1/2 have always been OK, even when cold. reverse is fine too so long as you go via 5th. Will speak to Topcats & see what they say

Worth checking the heat/insulation matting?
Next time my engine is out, I'm going to have to address the bulkhead shielding

You're lucky, a T5 with a good change maybe the longer first makes the difference confused
I know they're not really bad especially when warm but wonder if all CR boxes are the same.

what about fitting decat pipes?, if not already done?

My clutch failed last year at ~30k. loads of wear left on the plates but the diaphragm fingers fell to bits instead!
