It seems almost impossible to get the Mobil semi-synthetic oil that used to be recommended for the 1K-6K run in period. Halfords can special order it if you really want. Alternatively use another branded equivalent (as I sure that all the dealers do).
As for what the factory are recommending these days then this is interesting. I thought that prior to a recent change in Tuscan racing sponsership the recommended oil (post 6K) was always Mobil 1 (0W40). Since said sponsership change, I believe that it is now CarLube (can't remember the spec but it is pretty close to Mobil 1).
Can anyone clarify where they heard that Castrol and Mobil 1 Motorsport are now approved oils. Also does anybody know the definitive spec for the best oil for these AJP6 engines (preferably heard from the factory!).

I think the factory now recommend Carlube RRR.In my Tuscan Castrol 15W50 was used for the first 6K miles & it should be noted with very little oil consumption. At the 6K mile service this was switched to Mobil 1 0W40 & oil consumption with this was a lot higher 800 miles/liter on average. Now just had the 12K service and changed for Castrol RS 10W60 & oil consumption so far virtually zero, oil pressure never below 20psi at idle, previously 10psi with Mobil 1.The only problem is getting hold of the Castrol 10W60 as Halfords,BP & JET stations only have 0W40 so you have to get it from your TVR dealer at £38 for 4 litres.
Have a look at an earlier thread about Oil:-

Seems that there is still no real answer to the question then.
Owners are using 0W40, 10W60, 15W50 etc and various brands all due to various recommendations.
Factory used to advise Mobil 1 (0W40) and now Carlube RRR but both due, at least in part, to sponsership deals.
Does anybody know somebody close enough to TVR's engine designers to get an absolute xxWyy is the best spec oil for the AJP6 (brand not that important really as long as it is decent).
Shame "we've" scared Gaffer away (totally understand her reasons though, rock/hard place etc).
