Got to ask about the target tamora
Discussion
So whilst researching a new purchase between cerb or tam I notice the tamora over at target in Holland has been for sale for 5 years!
At least that's what I seem to have found through these forums.
I've got to ask why when they claim it's HPI clear (no cat c or d)?

I assume you mean HPI clear.
Several reasons imho;
1. The interior looks fooked in the pictures.
2. TVRs that don't sell in an hour then get branded continually as 'rotten' on the interweb for ever more.
3. It's a mk1 version with the small fog lights.
4. It's in Holland.
5. The seller doesn't do deals / negociate price.
6. There is a regular supply of cars in the UK which are easier to get to than Holland.
7. You have to pay in Euros so either cash with you or an international payment.
8. Getting it back to the UK.
9. Most buyers expect a concours de elegance condition car for Cat C money.

Cheers mk.
I go to NW Europe monthly so am trying to find reasons not to go, strange I know, but being handy with tools and really liking the Tam's handling I'm sure it would come home with me!
Interiors aren't really a major worry v exterior and engine.
Perhaps you see how my heart is controlling the head. Never good!
It would be a keeper to park next to the chim450.

I’m sure someone will be able to correct me if I’ve got it wrong, but I thought one of the issues here is that by exporting cars from the UK to Holland and back removes details of accident damage?
The cars are cheaper than over there, usually come from here, and they’ve had to pay to ship it about. How would that work?
Not that any of that makes it a necessarily a bad car.

No you're right, they're not obliged to reveal accident history as its a UK classification.
I emailed them about the cerb and tamora and asked them if they were cat C or D and they said Cat D to the cerb and clear on the Tam.
Is there a way to check using the VIN if a car has previous write off?
I actually thought the way they make money is to buy in the UK and not pay VAT. But not sure if VAT would then have to be paid when its brought back in the UK. Don't think so as VAT would have been paid when new...... But I'm nor sure.

VAT would only be waived if exporting outside the EU. VAT isn't applied to used cars in the UK afaik anyway so moot.
When I considered a Target car, I planned to drive it to the chunnel. Then on to an MOT station. I do live in S London though.
Delivery, by Target, was €600 or their abouts.
I think you can HPI on the vin / chassis number..

I would double check anything about that car
As said the interior looks fooked and with all that wear 31,000 miles seems a lot of wear for low mileage
there is a lot of rust in the engine compartment even the interior looks rusty if you look at the seat mechanism, what will the chassis and out riggers be like
Shame as it looks like it could be brought back to life but at what cost

I looked at the car 3 years ago,i was underwhelmed with the condition and the engine sounded like a bag of nails!
(I have just watched the video on their website and it still sounds the same)
They also didn't seem to be bothered if they sold it or not ,it was very much a case of thats the price take it or leave it-needless to say i left it!!
