Factory servicing
Discussion
I thought about it for my first service. The factory has a service department just like any dealer. All you have to do is phone them and book your car in. For me the distance was too much but I might think about it towards the end of the warranty period?
I'm interested also in anyone who's used the factory and doesn't live close to it. Did you get a loan car? How far will they come and collect?
Cheers... Andrew

A Tuscan-owning mate of mine lives in Windsor and had his car serviced at the factory. Got a Chimaera for a week, but had to drive home and back himself.
As an interesting (well...) aside, the Chimaera in question was badged 450, but had a 400 engine. I guess the guys at the factory get up to all sorts though...
I had my Tuscan serviced at the factory last October and can't praise them enough, they gave superb service, fixed everything and didn't charge for some things you might expect a dealer to try and charge for (like giving me a full suspension alignment, some kick plates, anti squeak stuff on the (new) rear window, checking the valve train to ensure all was well etc)
I live in Hampshire which makes for a long drive to Blackpool. They offered me the Chimeara but I would have had to return it on a Thursday (so another day off work) so I declined and said I'd return on the following Saturday morning.
But, in the meantime I wonder if they might consider sticking the car on the next available transporter down to Hawthrons in Farnham (was in any particularly hurry to get it back asap so I wouldn't mind if it took a week or two), I asked Heath and to my surprise he agreed.
Delivered to the door (almost) the following Monday FOC, outstanding

Right, that's it - I'll give the factory a ring tomorrow. Thanks, Claire - your dad must be geting fed up the phone ringing, and you saying, "this bloke off Pistonheads said....."
My list of niggles isn't anything like as long as Lance's - they're all in there, but I don't care as long as theyr'e fixed. I DO want a suspension geometry check, and the rear brake bias fixing, though.

Yes, thanks, Claire. I don't know, I just feel like with TVR, getting it serviced at the factory will be a better bet in the longer term, and may result in the suspension geometry etc, being sorted (which it is generally agreed is not often set up as carefully as it could be). I also think it will be good for the factory to see a Tamora that is working well, hopefully looked after, and a happy customer!!
I get the impression that the people who service them and the people who build them aren't the same bunch.
From my experience of the factory service department they're pretty conscientious and don't forget they can put a name/face to the car (this does make a difference)- where as the people that originally build them, well.......

The service department will get to know who goes with what car.
Where as the blokes on the lines wont have a clue unless people go up and see their cars in build.
Its strange but Dad has this habit of remembering cars and who bought them. Classic example was NAS7Y on a Black SEAC. I loved that car.
