The factory is listening now!
Discussion
Dear all
Claire has very kindly (thanks!!) just email her father at the factory with a list of common Tamora faults that I've put together from trawling through all the threads this year. Being an engineer by degree I was careful to only pick ones relevant to factory design/development so as not to waste their time. Having said that there are 32 of them!
I also dont want to encourage an atmosphere of blame or complaint, rather of sharing our own development experiences and get help with the ones we can't fix so that all future Tamoras are fully sorted.
I sincerely hope this marks a turning point for factory/owners communication irrelevant of who was to blame in the past.
Will keep you all posted.....

Ted, it might be worth trying to get TVR to see PS as the official board of the factory and see if you can get someone to lurk and reply to relevant threads.
It is with out doubt that this place is the defacto TVR site anyway, and if I was TVR I would want to answer the question once on this site as opposed to lots of times from different customers.
In fact this could be TVR's FAQ site.
Head of customer relations at Lotus lurks on the yahoo mailing list for the Esprit and replies and proactively does research for topics and it really looks good on the company, not to mention it being extremely useful.

I seem to remember Ted saying that the factory had been reading some of the previous threads on PH and had commented back to him, so it looks like they are listening after all!
In the spirit of being whinge free, Excellent work chaps, and well done to TVR for responding. Let's hope this continues

Hi Lance,
Well done.
I too have been speaking to Claire and she has spoken to her dad about my car that is currently at the factory in bits. Hopefully between us we can get some of the "initial features" sorted out.
Any chance you could mail me your list of 32 points off line. It would be interesting to see how many tie up with mine.
Cheers,
Nick

TVR are making various moves to improve their understanding of customers and the net is a big part of that. Give it time and those relationships will no doubt become more focused and I would hope we can be a part of that.
Worked in marketing by any change Ted? Only kidding and good to see that the factory is looking at getting things better - probably sorted in a year or two (being realistic rather than pessimistic) which is about time I will be looking for a new one - hurrah...
Did a group from the Tuscan e list not meet with the Factory? I thought they had done. If so does anyone know the outcome?
The one thing which does worry me about TVR (or Lotus or whoever) lurking on PH and the like is that there are people who no matter what the response from TVR will never see it from an objective point of view. I'd hate that to happen.
Anyway well done for communicating with them, please keep us posted.

This is all very encouraging. Those who buy new TVR are, of course, the guinea pigs for a lot of TVR R&D (which we all acknowledge to be an economic reality given the size of the company) and so it is in the best interests of TVR to get the feedback of owners (as well as dealers) and establish and maintain some form of direct customer contact (if only for repeat business...)
So three cheers for PistonHeads (and Ted). Hip Hip...!!!!!

Thanks Lance,
Got the list.
It reminded me of a few I'd forgotten !!!
I've now mailed my list to the dealer who is going to send it on the factory.
I've now been told the car will be at the factory for at least a month. That should give them time to upgrade my car to 2003 spec and sort out all my problems.
Why it's going to take a month to take my engine out rebuild it and put it back in I don't know. I've already been without it for 3 1/2 weeks
TVR's don't ya just love em....................

Lance:
You were kind enough to reply recently to my question on Tamora reliability - would you also be kind enough to email me the list of 32 items?
Many thanks, Julian
