2004 car at a good price near me.

What do you reckon on them and how would it compare to a 4.5 Cerbera?

They're very different cars - defined by the engines.
I've gone from a Cerb to a t350c because I prefer the handling of the t350 and it's a much more practical every day proposition. The Cerbie was more 'special' though....

So, in a nutshell, good and bad points of the T350?

Good and bad points compared to what? Please put some context behind your original question.

Naturally T350 owners tend to think the car has a lot of good points. The only bad point is living with people telling you the engine is going to blow up. I can't recall any T350s/Tamoras letting go in a big way, the odd one has needed engine attention though.

The T350 is vastly superior to older TVRs in terms of safety, build quality, handling, and overall useability. It's a pussy cat your granny could drive. Until you wind up the pace a little when it becomes a howling beast with a nimbleness akin to the Elise, but with a lot more power.

Try one, I doubt you'll dislike it.

Good and bad points!
It's not rocket science, mate!

EG.
If someone asks me the same thing about my Monaro 5.7, I would say;

Good points;
Lazy feel of the huge engine, sound of the V8 motor, character, cruising ability, effortlessness, looks, presence, value for money (especially used), sits 4 in luxury, boot size, relative simplicity of the engine, long service intervals.

Bad points;
Fuel consumption, high gearing blunts the acceleration somewhat, a little heavy, traction control too intrusive.

Like I say, not exactly rocket science.

er... lazy feel of engine isn't a good point for me. Low spec engine internals, low specific output, low state of tune, low down torque - low excitement levels!

Luckily for me the engine in the t350 is exactly the opposite it's a screaming, snarling beast which needs a poke to wake it up but once over 5000 revs it flies up the road like it's arse was on fire. Much more exciting that way if you ask me. My good points are:

engine, engine, engine, sound, gearbox, brakes, pedals, long travel throttle, quick steering, cool interior, beautifully judged and inspired styling, size, practicality (for that type of car) surprising fuel economy (ditto).

Bad points: reliability worries although no serious probs so far. Hopefully it's mainly psychological from reading too many threads here! Seats could be more supportive, (lamonta insert ones are better, mine are full leather), I wish the wipers would go lower down so I could see more of the bonnet, they will spin if you really take the mickey with them (arguably a plus!) rarity - the roads would be more fun with more of these around!

I have to say that a big, lazy engine has it's advantages too.
A drove a Honda S2000 recently and yes, it was very quick, but it possessed all the oomph of a hairdryer below about 5000 rpm.
After the honeymoon period, constantly having to thrash an engine within an inch of it's life to make good progress gets tiring, the reason I preferred my Focus RS to my Civic Type R.

It's all relative. I was in a t350 the other day and the driver short shifted it and used the torque to accelerate from 40 in fifth. Try that in an s2000.

With 350bhp on tap it makes it a more practical car in all weather conditions...

I fancy one, but wait, isn't there a TVR 6-pot with a reputed 400 bhp?
Or did I imagine that?
That is serious oomph from just 6 cylinders of natural aspiration!

There is, the Red Rose spec. You can order it as an option on a new car. Rumour is you'll get about 375bhp on a t350 because the exhaust is restrictive. Not sure whether that's been proven though...

Or you could just get a Sagaris!

Someone mentioned a Tuscan S 4-litre 6-pot with 400 bhp, I thought!

The Red Rose 4.0 litre engine produces 400bhp.
That engine comes as standard in the Tuscan S and the Sagaris.

The t350 is 350 or 375hp (RR). Some 'special' T350's were made with the 4 litre S spec engine (5 I think) and there was at least 2 different exhausts, one of which supposedly allows 400hp.

There's one of those cars in the classifieds (in Black Sapphire Pearl IIRC).

Thanks for that. Looking at a couple of T350C models at the moment.

Try that in an S2k? I couldn't do it in the T350! (maybe I drove a lemon)

Either that or I bought a good one
