After a few enquiries I have realised that there are a number of stock cars (in pretty good colours, etc) available for immediate delivery - could be driving one by next weekend. how tempting is that?

I thought that the only way to get one would be to order and wait until July, it seems thats not the case. I have been offered 3 different specs this week alone that I could literally drive away in next weekend, after finance & PDi etc.....

Ah but a big part of the fun of buying a tvr new is speccing it up to your own individual requirements. The degree of customisation available is incredible. Ok if you're happy with the dealer's own taste then fine. Being a picky sort I like my cars to be 'just so' at £50k+!

I agree, howver i was quite surprised at actually how many were immediately available.

Do you think that this may have a knock on effect on prices? as once a few dealers are potentially sitting on 150k's worth of stock ( maybe 2-3 unsold cars)they may become keen to shift them.

I was under the impression that unless you ordered one ages ago, you wouldnt have a hope of getting into one unless ordered.

just surprised thats all.....

Not the case at all. Was offered one in January, needed speccing immediatley, for an April/May delivery.

Clue'd up dealers will have ordered stock cars as these next few months are the busiest of the year and fairly soon delivery on factory orders will be Sept/ Oct. Alternatively there may be the occasional cancelled order the dealer decided to keep on.

I would wait until late in the year at least most of the updates would of been done by then...

That might not be the case.

Remember the 'new' TVR has taken the trouble to do plenty of R&D (as evidenced by delayed launch).

Which is rather different to the 'old' TVR's way of doing things...

I expect the delivery times will get longer as orders will increase once people start seeing them on the road and they get into the automotive press.

From what i've been hearing.. new style mirrors, secure bonnet vents and wheels will be the first immediate change.. probably the relocation of the mirrors being the most dramatic!

Surely one of the adrenalin factors of owning such a beast is being one of the first! - I will always remember when I had a courtesy Tuscan for 24 hrs when they very first came out - priceless knowing there's only a handful on the road!

I heard that, though I thought it was the just the dealer cars that were pre-production spec (i.e with bolted in vents rather than moulded, older spec mirrors etc)?

Already seen a couple of customer cars which are identical to the dealer demo's... as far as been one of the first to have a Sag thats fine now but even the slightest cosmetic changes would annoy me! thats why i've put my order on hold until i know otherwise...

I know exactly what you mean Nick! after purchasing my new Tamora i was to find out after only two weeks of ownership Tvr decided to revise the front fog lights, rear light cluster and diffuser.. and the main problem with this is resale value! it seems everyone who enquired obout the car would ask if the car had the old or new lights!! thats why i'm going to take my time with the Sag too and just hope they can sort it within the next 6 months..

Customer cars are already different to dealer demos. The all important side exit exhausts have been revised to a bigger bore exit pipe. An improvement although there is now a visible, albeit nice quality weld now. That's kind of irrelevant as most esp mine will have new louder pipes fitted asap!

All the tuscan S engines now have a red cam cover unlike the dealer demos except for the Black car with the new wheels (NS's car), that was car no.1 and had a red cam cover. Currently that's available to drive in Jersey and has covered about 3000 miles already (most of them pretty hard I reckon!).

Regarding dealer stock, that's totally normal and very sensible for the dealers to have a few stock cars, if they're anything like Tuscan II's they'll be flying out of the showrooms. TVR's need to be seen to be believed and bought! The crummy website and brochures don't really do the car justice do they?!

if anyone has got any pics of the new exhausts i would be intrested in looking at them. being that i had the first customer car i have got the same spec as the dealer demos, just want to see if im missing out on anything!!
maybe the factory would supply me with the parts if they are just cosmetic changes (or maybe not)

If as The Pits stated, that the black Sagaris currently here on Jersey has had 3000 hard miles under its belt? it certainly doesn't look or feel like it.
The sound on the outside is incredible and distinct, before the car came over the brow of the hill and possibly 500-600 yards away we all knew what was about to appear.
Whilst in the cockpit the drive and exhaust noise seemed a distance away, and the car was ever so smooth, my 17 year old daughter could easily have handled this car at the speeds we were doing, with total comfort.
I or any other couldn't have put the car anywhere close to it's limit here, and would like to have the opportunity in the future to do so, but what a wonderful car and I envy all of you that have the pleasure to own one.

Best Regards,

James Sim.
