sagaris or Tam??
Discussion
iv just started saving for my first TVR.
I would get one tommorow but at my age insurance isn't to friendly. so iv decided to put away 500 a month into the "TVR Fund" as i call it.
I would be purchasing a second hand TVR for around the 20K mark, and plan to buy it outright (dont like the idea of finance really.it never makes sense to me).
I know a few 2/3 year old Tam would be in my price range, but is it likely an older Sagaris will be in the 20K mark in 3/4 years time? judging by the depreciation of other TVR's?
1 last question, iv searched about insurance, and it seems alot require RWD experience. would my RWD racing experience cover this, or should i look at selling my current car and get a MR2 or something to make me a bit more acceptable to the insurance companys for later on?
Thanks in advance.

Just emptied the TVR Fund after 9 years and bought a new Tamora with help of those nice people at Nationwide.
Bell Direct were £900 and I am only 26 with no previous in RWD that they would accept. (MIRA High performance training, proving ground work in supercharged Jags, Range Rovers etc etc apparently didn't count as it was not on the road)
Go to the Bank Manager with a pot of Vaseline and ask him to realise your dream now. If these bunch of thieving twisters in Gov't get a third term (your 3-4 year time scale) anything that has an engine worth talking about will be prohibited by VED. Heard figures of £500 per year knocked about as the top end rate they are aiming for.

So they probably wouldnt accept karting as suitable experience. if your track days dont count....silly really.
even though they work out about 250-300bhp per ton.
may have to get a mr2 or that for a year before i plan to get the TVR.
I too hope the current government dont get in again. I could do with getting more than 4% on my Savings!!!
but i really do fear for cars like TVR's future. hence iv got to get one soon.

To save £20k at a rate of £500 per month it will take you 40 months.
Why not buy a house with the £500
Rent the house out.
You get renatl income plus what will the house be worth in 40 months time?
Perhaps you will be buying a new Sagaris?
