Has anyone upgraded their audio system to the latest spec with the new AFR front mini speakers and subwoofer system.

I understand its a TVR first and at the edge of sound tech!

Seems to be an exciting trend

How does it sound?

I've heard it's not too great (and later '05 cars use rear speakers to improve on the sound quality). I could be wrong though....

I looked into it. Problem is the std AFR (is that what it's called?) setup uses a bass speaker in the centre rear and 2 ting front speakers in the door pockets.

I wanted the front speakers, but it would mean replacing/reworking to door pods = costly. Also my standard early rear speaker setup is 2 speakers LH and RH sides - the rear panel would need reworking to accomodate the woofer. Too costly for my liking again.

As much as I think they're ugly, I went for the optional door pods at £37 each, trimmed to match directly from my dealer/TVR factory. I put the original rear speakers in the door pods and upgraded the rears to 12cm jobbies. Seems to work quite well. Not exactly Harmon Kardon/Bose but good enough in a noisy TVR IMO.

I must admit I like the idea of having leading edge ideas in the car goes with the adventurous spirit of TVR.
The trouble is I can only hear the audio with the engine off anyway! Deaf as a post.
It really is the start of something new and British I think. The present mini speakers are 'super tweeters' next step is bigger surface speakers giving greater bottom range and of course trim surface acting as a speaker. See www.nxtsound.com

My T 350 came with that system

Frankly I though it was crap. Dumped the sub at the rear and replaced it with two 7x10

I got the NXT system as standard in my October 2004 car. The front door panels look so much better without a huge speaker hanging off them and the front speakers are actually alright - on the way to sounding like a front component setup instead of the bof standard co-axial.

As someone mentioned the one(!)rear speaker could do with upgrading though, but to honest i'm not as passionate about audio in my TVR as i have been in my previous cars because as soon as i get any time to drive it properly the stereo goes off!!

Not sure how they sell this now, but I'd get this system purely for the revised front door panels - then upgrade the rear speaker(s).
