Well, picked up my T350 Saturday, and tonight, after a FANTASTIC weekend of driving (WHAT a car!!!) I need to fill up for the first time.

Anyone got any hints or tips for not soaking myself in Shells finest optimax?

Not putting too much nozzle in the hole (fnarr fnarr) is one thing I have been told so far..

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
Mike

point the nozzle in the direction somewhere between 10 and 11 O'clock - I do that and never seem to have any problems at all!

Put in as far as it will go (I was told not to put it in very far but never worked for me).
rotate 90 degrees clockwise
take it very slowly.
Stop half way through and let some of the fumes escape.
Have a paper towel ready just in case.
Always wipe away any spills to prevent paint staining.
Tell petrol attendent "no theres nothing wrong with the pump"

Easy

I just push the nozzle in, don't bother turning it and just use half trigger. Works absolutely fine and no spurting at all. I can't believe I just wrote that sentence but it is completely true.

Try to work out how many litres you need to get the tank to 51L. e.g. if there are 8 litres left as you pull up to the pump, then 42-43 litres is your goal. If it cuts off close to this amount (so 38-39 litres upwards) then don't try and put any more in, otherwise it may end up on your feet.

Have a tissue to hand (ooer) to wipe up any excess.

Fill slowly - about half the speed of a 'normal' car.

Petrol makes a mess when it pours down the side of the car (it messed up my paint and created a 'dimple' in the paint where it had run down just twice - warranty paint repair done).

Well, it sort of went like this:

Opened the filler cap, petrol spurted out.
Filled up a bit, cut out
filled up a bit, cut out
rotate nozzle
filled up a bit, cut out
rotate nozzle
filled up a bit, cut out
rotate nozzle
found the optimimum fill angle and speed,
S_L_O_W_L_Y filled her up

Then when I came back spent 5 minutes talking to some old chap who was interested in the car.

I love TVR!!!

CK - Great to see you too, we must do it again. Sorry I was lagging behind on the wayto RG and back, still very cautious of the beast
