Having placed my order last year on my Tamora I eventually took delivery of it on Saturday 5th! Fanatstic it was too! So off I drive - how happy am I?!
I went into TVR ownership with very open eyes and knowing of all the problems and difficulties that they can come with but at the same time knowing how much fun they can be. They are the most beautiful car and I am so glad that I took the plunge!?
However, whilst driving along (only 50 ish miles into my virgin TVR ownership experience) I have to put the windscreen wipers and lights on as it starts to snow!
Then the warning buzzer sounds, the indicators light up, the full beam locks on, and the windscreen wipers (now on) wont stop! My first thought is - 'What have I done?'. I pull over, turn the ignition off and wait five minutes before trying to start off again... No change. Hazard lights are illuminated, the wipers wont stop, the full beam is locked on and the warning buzzer wont stop (it has after all stopped snowing)!
Hmmmm.... So, phone Castle and they told me to get it back to them and they would test all they can on a Saturday lunch time. Unfortunately they did what they could but had little luck! So, having driven my beloved TVR for less than two hours and fifty miles I waved it goodbye as it sat in the workshop at Castle...
Saturday went. Sunday came and went. Monday came. Still no TVR.
Monday lunch time came and a phone call from Castle!
My TVR was ready! They had found that the earth right at the front of the car had come lose and the washer used was not the most ideal! The most important thing was that by Monday I was driving my TVR and had the most stupid big grin on my face!
I am very happy with the car - love it to bits and it is fantastic! Very frustrating that it had the little niggle but that is TVR ownership!
But it did get me thinking... Have I got the record for the shortest time of owning a TVR before something goes a little wrong? Can any of you beat it?!
I am really very happy and can't wait for my next day off work - Friday, and all weekend!

Doesn't paint a good picture for the supposedly improved QC. Must confess though the Tam has grown on me a hell of a lot

Alas no. My Tuscan got no further than 25 miles from the dealership before the throttle stuck fully open which meant it going back on a truck.

Beat it - easy. About three years ago I took delivery of one of the last new Griffiths, delivered by the dealer on a low loader on a cold December evening in the dark. Chap gets the car off the low loader onto my steep drive, I have a shifty round my new pride and joy, sign some papers and wave delivery guy goodbye. Five minutes later, start the car and throttle goes all the way to the floor without a change in revs. Bolt that secures the throttle cable has fallen off into an ureachable bit of the engine V. Phone dealer and seeing they're 100 miles away decide to fix it myself. Car is registered from Jan 1 so stay sober on New Year's eve for my first drive. Turn out of my drive, indicate - light flashes once then all the lights/wipers/indicators pack up. Car went back to the dealer three times in the first fortnight. Finally got it sorted and was fantastic after that.
Well you did ask

I am really looking forward to TVR ownership and at the moment the only thing getting in the way of enjoying it is work!
I haven't had a chance to sort the photos out so far... But watch this space as I will do!
I also plan to go to the Mid Essex meet - Castle will be there with their Sagaris!!
