I'm seriously thinking of getting ride of my lotus and purchasing a Tamora. I was looking at buying a 2/3 year car for between £25-28 that had been well looked after. This would leave me with a cash reserve if anything untoward happened. However since TVR annouced their 3year/36,000 warranty I've been tempted to go for a new Tamora. Unfortunately this would stretch the finances a little thin in the first couple years of ownership, however, the warranty should cover any unforseen problems. Your thoughts please.

With the benefit of hindsight, I'd have possibly considered getting a new Tamora, but when we bought ours last year (about this time last year) we stretched to a 10 month old ex-demo from a main dealer.

The ensuing period has been largely hassle free and the main dealer has seen to any niggles. The cost of ownership has been zip so far (aside from fuel and 12k service), so the main dealer back up has to be given the thumbs up.

Your eventual decision may depend on your views on the Speed Six. For piece of mind the 36k/3 year warranty may be the best bet, but the opinion of a few on here (plus a few others I've spoken to) is that the units are generally better post mid '02...so anything well looked after from around this time should still be considered.

I recently upgraded from an Elise to a T350T. Seriously considered a Tamora but just preferred the look of a T350, so when the Targa top version came along I went for it. I can honestly say I've not looked back - was worried the TVR's bark might bite when I wasn't totally focussed on the job, but I've had some "interesting" experiences in fairly poor conditions and my T350's behaved well!

I bought an ex-demo with 500 miles on the clock. Had a few niggles but really pleased overall. Probably gonna have to phone the insurance company to up my limited mileage policy given the mileage I'm putting on it!!

What dealer is offering £4000 of free extras? Or are you refering to the revised spec that includes up to a pearl paint, aircon, 18" alloys, etc.?

Thats what I meant.was told that it was a limited offer but wouldn't be supprised if it is the new specification

Mole Valley are currently selling a very low mileage (3k I think) '04 Tamora for 29,950. I'd be tempted to go for that in your position (if you like the colour scheme) and it has the required extras.

You'll be saving 8k over a new car and it will still have a year to run on the factory engine warranty (and as has been said, I'd say a '04 engine will be pretty much sorted).

Having said that, it would be tempting to spend the extra for piece of mind....an interesting (though not unpleasant) dilemma!

It's not a limited offer so you may want to find a new dealer who's in the know! All TVR's now come with Hydratrak as standard too

That's not true. I'm reliably informed that the spec is only available for the first 500 customers of each model!

First 500 of each model? Thought they were only making 500 then stopping production?

So if your deliberations have moved on, I guess I needn't expect any response to the lengthy email I sent you with various photos three weeks ago to answer your questions about my Tamora. Nice...

Now into month 2 of Tamora Red Rose ownership. Delivered with the 2005 spec - 18" wheels, pearl paint, AC etc. Mindblowing! Nothing can touch it for value and performance. Get one now! Can't wait for the topless season.
