Yeah, exactly my thoughts when I saw Ted's photo; the one that looks down into the wheel arch slashes! You'd be spending quite a lot of time phannying around with a (synthetic of course) Chamois leather drying them out - just when you're in a rush on a Sunday because the sun has come out (for once!) Still you've spent £50k odd so it shouldn't upset too much!!!!
I applaud your concern for endangered species wholeheartedly.
However, pretty much ever since the car was invented chamois leather has actually been rather more ordinary sheepskin. Even then it's a by-product of the meat industry ie the sheep are already dead.
So drying a car with a 'chamois' isn't really cruel or scandalous for non-vegans but it does work a lot better than the synthetic imitation and it's still far less likely to leave any scratches your lovely paint work.
Our family is in the leather business in case you were wondering, so I don't expect everyone to know this.
