should be okay... was the engine warm at the time or was it a cold start?

There is a line of thought that the engine should get the odd rev during run in to avoid glazed piston lineings. I wouldn't worry if I was you.

The engine was nice and warm (fans had kicked in). When I picked the car up, I was told the same about the cylinders glazing with too careful a run in, and to open it up a bit as the mileage increased wouldn't be a bad thing. Was just concerned I'd opened it up too much and too soon (unintentionally of course).

Don't worry - I stepped on the accelerator (literally) as I climbed into the car when picking it up after it's 1000 mile service. It had stood outside all night, was stone cold, and the revs hit 8500!! The car is fine. relax, it'll take it!!

So at what RPM does the rev limiter kick in on the Tamora ? On my Tuscan RR it kicks in at about 7300
RPM.

Cheers

There's no limiter, final change up light is 7000 revs, but this is user adjustable.

Does the Tamora have a floor mounted accelerator then?

It does have a rev limiter - I've hit it on a few occassions! i think it's 8500 - 9000 revs, somewhere around there. It is a race-based engine after all.

Well, it was the dealer that told me there was no limiter.

Was always told that revs did'nt hurt new engines ,labouring does.If you had floored the pedal in fifth gear at 30mph then you would have done the engine a lot more harm !
