Hi guys,

Whilst looking through the Autotrader website for Tamora's I came across a dealer advert for a:

"2002 02 Reg TVR TAMORA 4.0 Tuscan S 400 BHP engine"

Is this for real? I thought only a 3.6 was available for this car? Any thoughts?

Could be genuine - mine now has a standard 4 litre Tuscan engine which Dream Machines used to replace my 3.6 when it blew up, and which is now away being re-built in Blackpool.

A couple of early Tamoras (dealer demos) were 4.0l.

TVR Power offers a 4.0l conversion (see www.tvrpower.co.uk/sp6.3.6to4.upgrade.php ).

So could be....

Also, according to Dom at TVR Power, the early Tams, especially the demos had blueprinted engines, I know this because when I asked about having mine done, he said there would be no need, as it's already had one, and the most BHP I could expect was 2-3!!!!
One day, I may go for the 4ltr upgrade though (although 'tis very expensive for such little gain)

Mine's the first customer Tamora and he's never mentioned it to me so I assume mine's not blue
printed.

The official line from TVR is that no 4.0L Tamoras have been built yet.

Blue Prints and "Press Spec" Engines are another thing....

Flasher had one of the first Tamoras didn't he? Yellow one, 4.0 litre.

A minor point but back in 2002 wasn't the 4.0S Speed 6 shoving out *only* 390 not 400 - the extra 10 coming later as a result of the motorsport experiences?

A number of the dealer demo's had the 4.0 S engine and at least two customer cars that I know of that were done as a goodwill gesture...

One of the customer cars is black, I remember that much.
