You know when in hindsight you realise you should not have done something silly... stretch that bit too far on a stepladder... had that extra piece of pizza... accelerated too fast off the roundabout and catch the slippy bit of the road resulting in the car and me doing a 360 flat spin and ending up on the kerb. Well... when I say kerb... one wheel was on the kerb.. the other 3 were on the 45 degree grass :-(

The result was 2 blown tyres, a gash in a front alloy and what appears to be a bit of a crack in the front spoiler. Gutted, but could have been a lot worse... in fact I am amazed it is not a lot worse. The only damage to me was my pride!

The car was booked in to TMS tomorrow morning anyway just to get a couple of minor things sorted, however now it will be arriving on an RAC flatbed for TMS to check out the rest of it to be sure there is nothing more serious, although TMS don't know this bit yet!

So now I am left feeling a little sorrowful... it was a sad sight seeing the beast on a flatbed.

Safe driving people... it needs to come before fun driving, although not sure I am allowed to say that at the moment!!!

Jon, Very sorry to hear that, but remember, don't beat yourself up too much about it, it can happen to any of us, regardless of how good or aware of our cars we think we are.
Must be gutting seeing the net result of the spin though ,,,, look on the bright side, the front will probably get a nice respray and you'll have some new snazzy wheels and tyres on her

Thanks Chris... needed comfort from another owner ;-)

First bump in 16 years, so I guess I cant complain too much. They say everyone needs to have one bump... just wish I had done it in my £300 mini when I was 17 ;-)

To be honest, I would be absolutely gutted too, I did get my major 'bumps' out of the way quite early, all in my 1 litre Fiesta Popular!
The Tam though, is a different matter, it's such a gorgeous car anyway that to see it in a less than perfect state isn't nice, especially when it's yours!

Just get it looking like new again, and I'm sure it will , and you know what (or not what) to do on the next roundabout! lol. My crashes have made me change the way I drive, like never pulling out of a junction or roundabout until the car in front has gone!!!

Keep us updated on the progress , you going through the insurance?

I will get it over to TMS and leave it with them so they can take a look when they have time to see what needs doing before I decide whether to put it through the insurance or not... obviously if it is borderline on the excess amount then I will take the hit personally... much more though and need to consider going through insurance.

However it gets paid for though, it has to be like new again :-)

Wow sorry to hear this. I must say having spent all afternoon driving my go kart on slick tyres in the pouring rain (in the name of pleasure) I do feel my wet control skills were rehoned yesterday. Eitherway, I know what you are going through did the exact same thing about 8 years go in a BMW, very scary particularly as I was heading broadside on to a lampost! Stopped with 6in to spare. Just needed the alloys refurbishing! Copper found there was diesel all over the exit on the round about and it had just rained!

Lets hope its all Ok, and glad to hear you are personally ok.

Thanks Maddog... the RAC guy did say that there is a lorry park around the corner where trucks fill up with diesel, and that is the first bend they go around after leaving, so if there is any diesel spillage it drips off there, hence I am not the first to lose it on that spot.

Now he tells me!!!! ;-)

I think you should phone the Bib and the council. They may well have word with them or monitor the road.

Sorry to hear about the spin but I agree don't beat yourself up. I spun out on a straight piece of the North circular over Christmas and completely wrecked my Tuscan S( Bit scary - crossed all four lanes and ended up on the wrong side of the road embedded in railing six inches from the concrete pillar of an elevated pedestrian walkway)
Realised a little while ago after I'd given myself a very hard time for being a tt that the stretch I spun on is withing 300 yards of two major filling stations!

Bit of a pattern forming but the important thing is you are safe and sound

Chin up

Thanks Sideways.

The car is now in the safe hands of TMS who were re-assuringly calm about it, as of course this is business as usual for them, unfortunately.

Apart from the obvious tyres and alloy, the front spoiler looks like it can be new again with the help of some filler and respray which is a relatively small job. Then it is just a case of TMS having a good look around to make sure no other damage has been done.

Now what shall I do next weekend?!?!?!?!

Do a bit of shopping to treat your car! Steering wheel from TVR Power, or shop for some nice ICE upgrades for your poorly Tam!

Crikey, Chris not only has shoppingistis, but he's now trying to spread it around like some contagious thing

Sorry to hear of the incident Jon. We've all got to drive on tiptoes out there.

LOL, Chan read out all the invoices and reciepts on what I have spent on my Tam during the 8 months!
I am now going slower in the Tam than I do in the 300BHP less Clio in this freak weather we're having at the moment!
One thing I hate though is when people get all self rightious about how we drive, it can happen to any of us in a split second, all we can do is narrow the chances, not easy these days, especially with the atrocious condition of some of our roads!

I still think I got off lightly, however I am going to need 4 new wheels and tyres as I damaged the inside of them whilst going up the kerb it seems. Add minor front spoiler damage and it comes out as an insurance job. Then it is a case of making sure that everything is okay once it is back on 4 straight wheels!

So far everyone has been really good... the RAC (when you call they even answer as the TVR hotline!), TMS in checking the car out to get the ball rolling the same day and my insurance company for being able to organise an assessor with just a 2 minute phone call from me.

At this rate, whether I deserve to be or not, I will be back on the road in no time!

Possibly because it is their single busiest source of work
