Engine Update

Hi All,

Just thought i'd update you on the engine problem i had with the Tam over Christmas.

It was taken into the dealers on the 10th Jan with a ticking noise on the top end of the engine. Car ran ok, no loss in performance at all, just ticking?

Dealer tried to fix it, checked tappets, cams etc, usual S6 stuff, but after liasing with the factory they requested that the car be taken to Blackpool for further investigation.

Well the car was taken to Blackpool on the 15th Jan and she was retruned with engine rebuilt last night, 3.5 weeks for a rebuild?????

The tapping noise was a little end bearing. They have replaced all 6 con rods, little and big ends. They also upgraded the cylinder head as i was informed that they have modified the oil ways to improve circulation.

Got to run her in again, but already alot smoother than before.

Was it done under warranty?

Was done under warranty, runs out in Sept this year.

May be an excuse to upgrade her and get a new warranty as well?? Don't know if the wife will buy that one. I fancy a red rose to my own spec.

Sounds like a good idea! Seems like the factory did a top job in doing the preventative work also! Makes a nice change hearing some good news!
