Speaker Upgrade
Discussion
At last, I have arranged to get my speakers upgraded.
Rather than the tiny units that TVR fit as standard, I am taking the Tamora in to Wentworth Car Radio to have two 10" Pioneer Full Range Speakers fitted in their place.
Speaker details are on:
www.pioneer.co.uk/bighead.php3?id=TS-A2510
That should improve the bass response!
There will be some intrusion in to the boot, but they can also make a carpet covered enclosure to smarten things up if I want them to.
I'll post a picture on my website once they've been installed.

The fitters at Wentworth suggested an additional amp.
My head unit says 50w x 4, but apparently this is peak power, so in actual fact, the unit will only produce around 25w x 4, (25w x 2 in my case, as the Tamora will only take two speakers).
I'll see how it goes without an amp first, but if it needs a bit more power, I have seen some Pioneer amps on www.caraudiodirect.co.uk for around £100.00 which should do the trick.

I would defiantly recommend an amp. Running big speaker like those rated at 100W - 400W via a 25W head unit could actually damage the speakers. I've got a small Phoenix Gold 100W per channel amp running my 6" speaker in the back of the Tamora and it sounds great even at motorway speeds with the roof down.
Well it would if the car could archive motorway speeds, see my other post....................
Cheers,
Nick

I got the speakers upgraded last Friday as planned.
The only minor cock-up was that Pioneer sent 8" rather than 10" speakers to the dealers, but on reflection, I think the 10" speakers may have looked too big!
The sound from the 8" speakers is amazing, despite the fact that they are still only being driven by the amp in the head unit. You can now feel the bass thumping through your chest, and on certain tracks, you can feel the floor pan vibrating, even whilst driving.
I've updated the website and included some pictures on:
