Who can help.

I cant get the air from the vents of the car to come out very warm. My dealer has said that on this dash display under factory settings you can alter the flap control, which is correct you can.

It would appear when you alter said control the air temp does increase however the car then seems to run hot. i.e the water temprature around town is 100 degs

Anyone else's car run at a water temp of 100

Does anyone know if this flap control has any other implications

My coolant temp's not been above 95 since Summer; think a general check-over by a dealer may be wise. Just a thought, if water level was low it may give these symptoms - presumably you have checked recently that it's about 2" from top of tank when cold.

I was not aware you could change the heater settings (other than via the dial that is!) as with mine I am always having to turn the heater down or off cos the car gets so hot (even in this weather!!).

My temp seems to run around the high 70's early 80's until I hit traffic and then its straight up in the 90's

I have not checked the water although I will today.

I only really noticed this yesterday when I thought considering how cold it was the temp was very high.

Whithout tying to raise concerns, its worth a trip to the dealer or someone who can pressure test and check your cooling system for CO emmissions. These are symtoms of a blown head gasket.

There are many and it really depends on the nature of the failure (where the gasket leak path has developed).

Oil in Water or water in oil are common.
Excessive water/steam from the exhaust system.
Big varaition in the operating temperature.
Rough running (less than 6 cylinders firing)- this may only be noticed on start up, but again, depnds on the nature or the severity of the failure.
Loss of performance.

Hope this helps either way.

John

Thanks. None of that.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that its a low water level. I have only done 1400 miles in the car from new.

Hi

When my Tamora was new it did run a little hot but after a few K it settled down so I would just check the fluid levels regularly and only worry if the temp goes well over 100 degs. The pressure system will prevent the system from boiling at that temp so you sould be safe anyway. In the summer mine often goes to 101 -102 degs but the second fan comes on at about 97 and brings it all back under control.

Hope this help.

Checked the header as soon as I got home. EMPTY!!

Filled it up ran the car up to temp, then it dumped it all onto the floor.

Happy Days !!

The header should be almost empty, I was told, and it says in the manual also that the coolant should only have about 10mm at the bottom of the expansion tank, mines always been that way without ever overheating.
(can't wait to have heater blower fixed though!! brrrrrr)

Conflicting reports here then.

So should the header tank at cold be full9 2 Inches from top) or empty.

The tanks had about an inch of fluid in it before i filled it. After it had dumped and the engine gone cold again it was back down to the same level, as if it had self leveled itself.

My understanding was a few inches from the top too.

In reality you will notice each car finds it's own level whether near the top or near the bottom of this tank. Mine seems to settle 2/3 way up, by the side pipe. Doesn't drop below this and if I put more in it drops to this level.
