I am so silly sometimes, I did read that it was a 10" sub, I only wanted to add a little more bass to the sound of the rear speakers, but this thing is HUGE!!!! and DEEP!!!
What the hell have I done??? I have had a search on the net, and 10" subs seem to be the norm! Why can''t I ask before going head first into these things, would save a lot of time and money!!!
Right, what I have is a Pioneer TS-W255F Free Air sub woofer, is there any way this could be installed (!!!!) without looking rather silly? Someone, please help me, I only want a little bass, as I do like my reggae, but I don't want my Tam turned into some sort of 'Chav mobile'!!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Chris (who needs a sharp lesson in common sense and economics!!)

Dig out the reciept and take it back to the shop.
With super sports silencers you should'nt need music.

Can you maybe cut a hole in the rear panel and shove it through from the boot? Does it have it's own enclosure? Sounds a bit OTT whatever the case

LOL,, I think it will have to go back, I can't see where it could be 'hidden'!! I have just got the DAB tuner box to go with my Avic X-1, but the sound, despite the better Pioneer speakers and tweeter in the back, is very flat, OK for voice, but crap for music, how can I get bass!!!! (sports silencers not withstanding of course!! lol)

LOL,, If I cut a hole in the rear bulkhead to take it, I won't have a rear bulkhead left!!!, and you're right, it's too OTT, should have engaged brain before clicking the buy button!!!

Just swap your rears for some large decent pioneer units. I will get a photo mine. They provide plenty of base!

I have a 10 inch sub fitted and 2 6x9s but these were installed when the car was being made the rear panel was made out of MDF and brought forward to accomodate. Had the sub cover made by an acoustic shop with the TVR logo lasered on.

Really does make a difference to the base in the car!

Cheers Maddog

WOW!! Barefoot!!! that does look quite awsome! Unfortunately, due to having a C/R box fitted on Sat and the DAB unit installed, my budget won't go as far as rearranging my bulkhead,, pity,, as your's looks just the job, and powerful enough to hear music with a super sports exhaust! (only very occasionally though )

Mine goes in for its new stereo/speakers on 6th Feb.

Opted for:

- New Infinity speakers front & rear
- New Kenwood head unit
- New Kenwood Keg MP3 10 meg storage system
- New 6" Bazooka Sub (picture below, fits between rear speakers)

If you wanted you can get them 'disguised' (not my thing):

Without trawling through previous posts (Lazy)

Are there any Standard aftermarket improvements
I can make that are available.

Chris. That rear shelf is just what I'm looking for.
How did you secure it to the rear of the car

You should be able to put it just about anywhere as its free air.

Dont expect tight controlled quality bass though, its a flapper, all free air subs are...

Thanks guys ,, could anyone give me a link to a pair of 'normal' good speakers (preferably Pioneer) that do give good bass without having to resort to a sub woofer? The sub's gonna have to go back!! lol

Cheers

I've always been a fan of Audiobahn car audio. Maybe the ABF-39T would satisfy you're need for bass?

Or the Pioneer TS-A6921?

Have a surf for a brand called Focal.

They arent cheap but they kick the shit out of anything else below Audiophile Signature range speakers...

I put some Pioneer 6x9s in the back of my Chimaera and they gave plenty of deep bass. I'm not an ICE perfectionist, but they were defintely good enough for a TVR.

This is what I put in the back of the T350, 13cm Pioneers with crossovers and tweeters. Makes a good difference, plan to get front door pods soon. Yes, I did adjust the tweeters upwards soon after these photos:
