I've been looking around in the past few months for a used T350C and have come across a few ex-demos.

After reading a lot on this forum about revs and temp, and how you shouldn't thrash when the engine is cold I'm interested to hear what you guys think about them.

I haven't yet been for a test drive (I've got one arranged for next week) so was wondering what the score was with dealers, and whether they tend to treat the car as if it were their own on demos.

Would you buy one?

You ought to give the boys at Silverstone a call. They have a showroom full of gorgeous T350's when I dropped my Tamora off earlier this week including a few used ones.

Having bought mine through them and got to know them a bit I would not hesitate to buy from them again. If they say it is sound then it will be.

They were very careful to let the car warm up on the test drive before encouraging some progress.

Sound blokes, cracking deal on the new Tamora and spotless aftersales service, could not ask for more

By means of adding balance, I bought an ex-demo early Cerbera S6, and even ignoring the well-documented early engine probs (3 rebuilds in 15k) it was a lemon frequently failing to get me to my destination + many niggling problems (clutch failed, 5th gear disintegrated, accelerator cable broke, radiator sprang large leak, damper rod sheared )

Of course, how much if any was started by treatment when running in, we couldn't tell.

You've got to be v.careful with demos. As previously said, see if the guy warms the car up on the test drive before putting his foot down: I once had a test drive in an Elise demonstrator and the twat floored it from cold. Needless to say I decided not to buy the car.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

I bought a ex demo (2000 miles) from Gorner's and in 18 months have only had probs with the oil pressure sensor fixed under warrenty and the glove box catch - fixed under superglue.

I'm very happy and I know that the car was always warmed up before demo's to customers.

It's all the luck of the draw. When you buy second hand the previous owners/drivers are an unknown quantity.

I too have had high velocity from Chris's car! (When warmed up I hasten to add! )

This is the same unknown as for buying any second hand TVR and I would hope that an ex dealer owned car would have a higher probability of being treated correctly. Mine is an ex demo and I have not had any engine related problems to date (typed whilst touching a large piece of wood!).

Silverstone TVR ALWAYS warm up their cars before going for a drive.

I was having a look around when a certain well known PHer had booked a test-drive in their T350 and the salesman excused himself to start the car as he was expecting his customer to turn up.

Top top people up there. They actually nagged me to come back and take a few cars out for a drive.

That's a relief. For a moment, reading this thread I thought that the car in question hadn't been run in before Jamer floored it - but on reflection it must have had at least a couple of hundred miles of running in if it made it to Paris and back.

PS Breaking news - "James Agger sportsware survives Tsunami"! I'm so glad your hats are of such good quality, what with the onslaught of the Indian Ocean and the rains in Dubai I had visions of it going the way of the fabled Agger 'Angar that nearly made it as Pistonfest Showroom 2004. Appropriate kit is safely back in Blighty and ready for a new season of TVR toplessness, thank goodness!

You mean this marquee ...

that turned into this one at Pistonfest last year.

I always did have a wind issue..

Back to the Tamora it had about 2000 miles on it I think before I went to Lemans that year
