Sagaris..Damn, think Im really starting to like it
Discussion
Its growing on me. The race car at Gorners looked damn good to be honest. Damn good!
£50k is starting to sound cheap. I was quite suprised also at how much better looking it was than the usual 350. Didnt think it was possible to make a good lookin car out of pile o'w@nk design that was the normal 350.
Hmmm, do I mod the Grif or buy a Saggy arse?

Wait until the first ones are delivered to customers so you can check changes in interior and exterior styling. I can't believe those axe cuts and cat flaps won't look seriously out of date within a few months ... unless TVR modify them.
My thoughts exactly, maybe they've 'overcooked' the design element a tad too much, and I trufully feel that within 5 years, the Sag may look woefully out of date,, no clean lines, that's the prob!! (I still like it though )

Out of date..........??? You must be joking, this is, or will be one of the most controversial cars in both design and styling out. To say that will look out of date within a few months is pure B.S!!! It is a very radical design as all TVR's are. This is following true TVR ethics. This is what they are all about, isn't it? They have never played safe with a subtle evolution yet, unlike other low volume supercar manufacturers. It's fare enough to say that you don't like it, but it will grow on you beleive me, have you seen it in the flesh yet?
I stand by what I thought, I think it is too 'overcooked', it's still bloody nice, but not 'pretty', not 'pure', for want of a better word, however, that is just my opinion, and I'm very glad we're all different regarding taste (Be quite boring otherwise,, as we'd all be driving those hidious Audi things in I Robot, not much fun!!)
"Like a Jackson Pollock painting the style has no where to go". [/quote]
Good greif L.A.... Who can compare a TVR to Pollock? He paints like a 3yr old, where TVR design cars more like Jack Vettriano (since you are a Scot you should appreciate his work).
If you look at the Aston Martin DBR9 it looks similar to the "In your face" design of the Sagaris. And to quote 'Top Gear', "The pent-up fustration appears to have been released in the way the DBR9 Looks...There's a good chance it will have won the visual war before it's even in the paddock". Funny I think that the Sagaris has the same out look.

I think some of you are being very unfair towards Jackson Pollock and the Sagaris. You are taking a very simplistic approach to the painter by just looking at what he paints, rather it is a matter of HOW HE PAINTS which is highly significant. The process of a gestural painting using the entire body rather than just the arm, wrist hand is important. In terms of children's painting Jean Dubuffet studied children's art for inspiration in the 1940's not Pollock. And besides there is a rhythmic poem within Pollock's work visually. I don't think anyone could do what Pollock did again.(Then again he might have had all the right connections in NYC)
Anyway I could care less about that BS and more about the Sagaris. The excess crevices define itself, it's not a style because it is the only one. Perhaps it will date but it only dates to itself not a trend or style. I don't think TVR will make another car like it. It's a daring design that is a great success with the mechanical guts to back it up. The Tuscan mk2's water scoop is much more of a blunder to gripe about.
Man, when will the Sagaris be available so we can really get to know it? They unveil these cars so early only for us to wait and wait.

I would think a 2 year old Sagaris would be fetching closer to £40K! Can't see them dropping £20K+ in the first 2 years!!!
I can see it getting pretty close. without being rude and please dont take this the wrong way, if you took your current car to the dealers today and asked for a px price - im sure that 30 - 35k would be the figure. Looking at your profile and what it was new this would be a pretty good comparison.
I know the cerbs been about a little longer but i think you would stand to lose 15k easily on a Sagaris and poss a touch more.
I love them and will probably get one once they've been about for a while. However will also probably hold out for a 12 month old version.
I think the days of TVRs being sound investments are long gone. Heart over Head on this one I think.
Parkers don't normally have any specialist cars in their guides.. never mind a car that hasn't been released yet!! you can be sure just as the Tuscan S was launched the Sagaris will be selling for a good premium too... A 2 year old example will be definately 40k plus... don't forget this is suppose to be the new flagship for Tvr....

Owen - I was only talking to my dealer yesterday re value of the current car and it's still just north of £40K (around 75% of purchase price). I also made good money on my previous 2 year old Cerb trade in. I wouldn't keep going back if I was dropping £20K every 2 years!!
Hopefully the new TVR management will ease the supply slightly to hold late car residuals a little stronger as I agree, for a while, they were a bit freefall.
TVR dealer network make their own market. Just look at the main dealer prices for used stock. Pretty strong at the moment.
