Oh dear! Easy job you think, remove leather backed panel and put hand inside, unscrew bayonet fitting and pull bulb holder out.The problem is, you have to snake your hand in through a small gap and after drawing blood on sharp pieces of fibreglass you can just about unscrew the bayonet. But you cannot fully retract it from the lens as the trim gets in the way. The only option I can see is to remove all the leather trim at the back.I think im going to get the dealer to do it when it goes in for a service next month

Had exactly the same problem earlier this week - offside breaklight bulb gone.

After spending 20 mins sitting in the boot, trying to get the blasted enclosure / cap / evil thing off (our out of the gap at least - bloddy big stip of fibreglass right behind it) (all other ones easily accessible of course!!)I then decided to stip away all the carpet / leather / CD changer toolkit flap thing) so undid some screws - blood everywhere at this point and I was starting to get upset.

Turned out to be a matter of technique - none of the panelling needs removing, just slide hand into gap, unscrew the outer cap thing until you feel it click into it's open possition, then slowly and carefully from the top edge tilt the thing (cables included) downwards and it slides out very easily. I was so pleased that I'd managed to do it in the end that I took it out the bulb out and back in again just to make sure.

Are you getting a fine white powder in the cavaties behind the body shell? - not sure whether my car is gradually wearing itself away or if it's a feature - CD-changer full of the stuff.

Let me know how you get on.

Good luck...

Hi Nicksey. Thanx for the info. I will give it another go tomorrow. As you say, the trim gets in the way and you end up swearing! The powder may be residue from sanding down during manufacture.
Cheers.
