Afternoon all

I have been reading through various threads going back several months but cannot find anything that quite answers my query around the fan blower.

At the moment the blower is more like a summer breeze than a blower. Dont get me wrong... the lights light up... the motor whirs noisely away... I can feel a warm breeze from the top vents but its as powerful as when you breath out of your mouth gently. On a 25 minute drive to the station in the morning with a average condensation I am lucky if the windscreen clears before I am getting out of the car again.

Now I know the fans are notoriously weak, but I just want to be sure that mine is no weaker than everyone elses! Can anything be done to make it better? Can a more powerful blower be fitted? Can I hire someone to blow on it for me?

I dont ask much... just to be able to see the road in front of me when driving too fast!

My windscreen blowers seem to clear the windscreen in 5 minutes or so. They have definately done the job after 25 mins.

I am, however, unable to get warm air out of the dash vents so have had these closed off for a while now. Works ok with the roof on as the widscreen vents heat the cabin nicely once the engine has heated up, but doesn't really work with the roof off.

From what I've been told, you won't ever get warm air out of the face level vents, it's just a stupid design feature - hot air for feet and windscreen, cold for body - makes no bloody sense when driving with the top down

If you got the setup menu you can change the vent settings. As I recall if the seting it 18 then the vents will blow on the screen and is more of a summer setting. I think there is a reference to the # and the flow of air in the manuall you get with the car... Have a play, see what happnes, and remember to open the vents in the footwell...

Just had a play around with the setting and its 20x better... I think I need to play around a little more as if I stop and start the fan it seems to go back to being ineffective, but not always.

However still much much better!!! I didnt think it possible but I like my car even more now :-)

Thats what I'd gathered.

Shame, as my MX5 was brilliant in the cold with the heaters on toasty hot, blowing in your face!

On balance, though, the Tamora wins. I've got a hat.

Me again...

Final bit on this tpic I hope, but I am "happy" with my heater now (or more like I have accepted my heater now) however should I have accepted the fact that it is very noisey when on 75% - 100% full speed. It sounds as if something is loose and it is rattling like hell.

Demand it is fixed when it goes back in for the bottom of the boot to be sealed and the left door / boot solenoid to be fixed, or just accepted it and turn the stereo up?

Also, just as a note of pleasant suprise, I drove about 200 miles mainly on the A1 in the torrential rain on New Years Day, and all I found was a slight leak on the passenger door seal. Footwells and roof all bone dry :-)

Happy New Year and safe driving!

Glad you've found right setting. I realised over Christmas that on my current T350 the max heat setting switches the side vents off, leaving dash vents on, presumably for max demisting. For max cockpit warming the heat setting below it pumps hottest air through all vents.

Manual doesn't mention this maybe it's a recent development.

I can't find this in my settings or in the manual.
Which version of software have you got?
I'm on 6, must need an upgrade...

Hey Flyboy

It isn't in the manual.... go to the Factory Settings option on the menu and it is in there.

Then I think it is a bit of trial and error to get your preferred setting.

My rattle though is niggling me... spoke to TMS and they said that it is a huge effort to get to the fan, and my thinking is that they may upset something else in the car so it may not be worth it. Hmmmmmm... dilemma!!!

IT IS.
access from the ns wheel well.
Wheel off, remove battery acces panel, ask local gynaecologist to reach through above the battery
I didn't want to remove my battery so my fan is still playing up.
Couldn't see the connections never mind reach them, & I'm not large...(no comments Gem )
I'll get Gorners to look at it when it goes in for service soon.

I think I may do a bit of huffing and puffing when I take it in to TMS to sort out the door / boot solenoid and boot leak as if they can sort the fan as well then I will have no complaints whatsoever and will tell the world how good TMS are

Hi Jon
After playing with the menu I guess you mean the "flap" setting.

I've adjusted mine both up & down but still got no joy.
All the led's work as they should but no blow. Looks like either a dodgy connection or a knackered fan.
I'll post result when I get it sorted

thanks anyway
