Hi all,

Thanks to Thomas Steenholdt (and indirectly, his excellent Tuscan Buyers Guide) I've decided to order a Sagaris. Naturally I want it RIGHT NOW, but I guess I'll have to live with the big queue . I've spent some time considering a TVR (I test drove a couple of Tuscans, and have attended a local Tuscan meet) but bought a 3 litre Z4 last year. I'm ready to undo that choice .

I have a couple of questions though - I hope you guys wouldn't mind helping me with...

I'm based in South-East London and want to ensure that I order from a dealer with good/honest customer service. Naturally it's probably inappropriate for people to praise or shame dealers on these forums, and so I wondered whether any of you had considered the best way to evaluate a dealer's potential? I've searched through and read most of the Sagaris threads, but couldn't see a discussion on this topic.

Are there some key questions I could ask to figure out a dealer's competence? Are there perhaps any outrageous claims that I should be on the lookout for? To ensure a fixed price, should I set out options like air conditioning, paint type and close-ratio gearbox now to be on the safe side?

Finally, would it be ok for people to mail me directly to make personal recommendations for dealers in London or the home counties that they've had great service from? I'm quite happy to drive 2-3 hours from Kent to ensure that I get the right dealer.

I'll be really grateful for any help you can provide... I hope to place the order within coming week.

Paul.

Paul, Michael Caine works at Castle TVR in Stanstead, and he used to race TVR's so he would be a good start. I have mine ordered through them, and they have been very 'honest' about the car. They also have some lovely samples of leather that look like carbon fibre, which Im sure will go down a storm in the Sagaris, and will be in mine.

What ever you do, good luck

That's a tough question! I'm tempted to get a black one (Lord of Darkness!), but I quite like the grey version that's featured in their press photographs. I also like the bolder colours, like red and yellow.

Do you have to pick the colour when you order?

I'd recommend talking to Paul from Gatwick TVR. I was recommended him from a similar post I put on this site and he's been very helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and he's good with the technical stuff. In fact they've already supplied a t350 with a tuscan S engine, so they've a better idea than most about what the sagaris is going to be like!

I have the same anxiety over colour issues. But it looked so good in iced titanium it seemed like a crazy colour could only make it worse! Quite fancy reflex green, reflex charcoal too and maybe rolex blue.

I think, for the Sagaris (Have noticed the Official TVR Engineering site have the name spelt WRONG!!!!!), the grey/silver is perfect, as it accentuates the myriad of grilles (or gills!) on the bodywork due to the shadows.

You dont have to spec a colour when you place the deposit, but when it gets a build slot you do...

Thsanks for the continued advice!

Do you have to spec anything at all when you first place the order? Also, were any of you given the specification for the interior (for example do you get a DAB stereo or anything) when you placed your orders?

Nope initially you dont have to spec anything.

Small tip, put some time aside to look through the colour books and everything. Its a great experience but it takes a while!

Ok will do - are the interior options similar to the 350 then? I noticed from the site that it says the interior is carbon fibre!!

I have only had a sit in the motorshow car.

The interior in that was identical to the T350 the only difference being that the arm rest which is leather in the T350 is body coloured in the Sagaris.

I think anyway...

For a ridiculous range of colours go to your local friendly Chipsaway franchise. If you talk to them very nicely they’ll let you borrow one of their sets of colour sample folders. I just picked up 3 folders from them today with literally thousands of colours. It will take hours to go through them all. When I’ve chosen a few they’re going to mix them up for me and spray a larger sample so I can really see what it’ll look like.

I was going for black but was dissuaded as many people felt it would hide the form of the car. Now I think a dark metallic grey and maybe get the wheels spayed black. But after a quick flick through the colour samples all sorts of possibilities have come up – many “almost blacks” with slight tinges of other colours.

BTW, there are no longer going to be body coloured interior sections.

So has the interior been completely revised or is it just going to be the same as the Tam/T350?

Black, black leather, black spiders I think would look quite nice.

Satans transport...

The interior is going to be pretty much the same as a T350 according to my dealer. I’m still tempted by black, black and black. But I'am worried it will be a bit too… errr… black.

Castle TVR as Michael Caine is based there and Ian has good connections with the factory also.

You can just put down a deposit of £1,000 plus vat, however all this does is fix the price.

If you want a car then you will need to place a 10% deposit, then at this time you state what you want i.e. Colour, options etc.

Once the factory receive the full deposit they will allocate you a build slot and give you an approx delivery date.

I have ordered my Sagaris from Silverstone TVR, who are a well run modern dealership with a very friendly and progressive outlook.
