Tamora fog / driving lights
Discussion
Newbie here... had my 2004 Tamora for a couple of weeks and realise that for the same price I would have been better off buying a TVR a few years ago rather than buying a house with my ex... they both cost the same and I suspect I would have had less problems with the car!
Or put simply... I've not stopped smiling since sitting in it.
A few MINOR niggles, but a small price to pay, and they will hopefully get resolved at the 1000 mile service.
One thing though which I am not sure if it is a fault of if it is by design... the front fog / driving lights only come on with headlights on fullbeam. When I turn the foglight dial on normal beam nothing happens except the rear foglight comes on. Surely you should be able to have front foglights on without fullbeam as fullbeam in fog is worse than driving with not lights at all.
Happy to stand corrected, and happy to live with if this is how it should be :-)

Allow me to be the first to welcome you to PistonHeads Jon
On my '02 Tamora there is only a rear fog light, no fronts.
The two stage fog lights switch does nothing when one turned one click to the right, on the second click it turns on the rear fog light.
For this fog light to work the lights need to be on either park (one click) or full (two clicks. High or low beam makes no difference.
Hope this helps.

Jon, good choice.. IMHO. Although I have never used the fog lights, just went outside to check (working at home today ). I think you might need to get the dealer to take a look at it - unless I misunderstood you. Both front and rear fog lights work if on either full or dipped headlights. However they do not work if on side lights, but then not sure you would ever use fog lights with only side lights - kind of crazy. I would always use them with dipped lights, given full beam would be reflective depending on how thick the fog is etc etc.. Anyway hope that helps.. and good/safe driving out there..
Hey Don... thanks for the reply... feel like one of the family now
My main query is around the front spots... however mine seems to work like yours (the first turn has no effect), but I would have expected the first turn would put the front spots on without needing fullbeam, now that they exist!
I can always talk to the garage, but I like to know the answer before asking the question (apart from on here of course!).

Jasper... great.. thank you. You describe what I expect should happen - I expected to be able to have my front fog/driving lights on when my headlights are on dipped, but can only have them on when headlights are on fullbeam. As you say.. seems pointless as you cant see a thing.
Added it to my list for the 1000 mile service... however doesnt matter how long the list is (not that long anyway)... its still worth it and I haven't been over 3500rpm yet!!!
Cheers

That would explain it - mine is a 52 '02 and has the later lights configuration which I think came in around September time. Jasper - is yours earlier than this?
Edited to say - just checked your profile pic, and yous is indeed the earlier config.
Jon - what you think are front fog lights are actually full beam driving lamps.

That would explain it - thanks. One useful tip for the Tamora Register I think (Maddog) !!
Great Idea. More required. I will put an FAQ together with these in. Save questions later. I also thought they were fogs but worked out they were really full beam lamps.
thanks
Simon
They are driving lights not fog lights. The early cars have small lights at the front (02 model etc) and they are as in the handbook
03 models have the larger lights and they are set lower and back more in the car, these are driving lights, not fog lights, hence not working on the switchgear...
I thought they were not working too, then my dealer pointed out that they changed on the 03 models...

I've never been a fan of front fog lights as there are a few people out there who don't seem know what fog is, or more so, the highway code definition of fog light use...
Making them into driving lights was a good move by TVR as I'm sure they will be put to good use at this time of year.
