somewhere daft!

Frost warning at start up, 30 minutes later in traffic (at 6.30 a.m.)+17C, errr I think not.

Not helpful sorry, but I'd also like to know the answer.

Well I saw one on the car which said external temperature and it appears to be in the middle of the speed 6. When I get the car back I will take a look!

OK, so you all guessed why I'm asking. I'm thinking of relocating it if it's just 'on the end of a wire' like the one from a Chimaera/Griffith (well they had an ice detector, but its a rough version of the same thing).

Maddog - don't quite understand your ramble there - do you mean the sensor might be somewhere amid all the engine gubbins? Shirley it would read much higher if so (mine hasn't been above 50deg C and usually reads around 10deg above the real temperature once the car is warmed up).

There's scope for confusion between the charge air temp sensor used by the engine management system, and any other ambiant temp sensor/ice detector/whatever.

I dont take any notice of the reading on mine, as its always way above what it should be. I think it is mounted on the exhaust manifold on the T350 judging by my readouts

Snap!

Probably made by the Government Statistics Department.

I think the temperature sensor is on the inlet to the air filter, hence it gives the temperature of the air being fed into the engine. Because it's so close to the engine, it gives a temperature higher than the ambient air temperature.

From memory, the sensor lead on my Tamora is labelled as such.

All,

Think there are 2 sensors. One for inlet charge temp and one for external frost warning. The inlet chage temp is the one ontop of the airbox i think and the other is monted under the front edge of the N/S front wheel arch, (13mm nut with a probe in it). My frost warning works ok, came on last week, was pretty accurate as well?
