Should I Buy a 350?
Discussion
Having previously owned a Chimaera and a Cerbie, and enjoyed them both greatly, I'm thinking of buying a 350. The question is, is the 350 more reliable, refined and comfortable than the TVR's of old? Does anyone have any advice, horror stories? I'm looking to spend about 30K. Is this enough?
There are several recent threads on this topic - look down the list on this section of the forum.
The T350 is still a TVR, so build quality and reliability is not up to Toyota levels (but it is possibly up with Maserati 3200s and maybe even CLK Diesels). You've owned a Cerbera so you know what how that is an advance on the earlier Chimaera/Griffith. The T350 and Tamora and another step forward - the cars actually go around corners now too.
Drive one and let your heart decide (if your wallet will let it). You'll get the usual doom mongers and over positive responses on here.
IMO, a T350 around 30k has lost a lot of it's value and depreciation should be reasonable. I can't promise the engine won't go bang - buy carefully and watch how the previous owner treats the Speed Six engine when cold - over 3,000 rpm until the oil is fully warmed up is a big no no - walk away if the owner does this.
Enjoy the test drives.

does the 350 come standard with aircon?
New ones do - a 2k saving over what people have paid in the past. Makes the examples up for sale at 42-44k at some stealers laughable.
I remember commenting on some dealers' prices a few months ago - well most of those cars are still for sale. Peninsula had a Spectraflair silver Targa back in April/May when I was looking for mine - it's still for sale. County had some nice bluey/purple examples - guess what - they're still for sale at more than a new model from the factory. Dur.
I've had two Cerberas (and will get a third) but I also hope to have a T350
at some stage, especially to use on track.
There are plenty of threads as to why or why not to buy a T350, but in terms
of performance, I was shocked when I spent some time in one courtesy of
the good folk at Silverstone TVR.
Far better handling and ease of use than the Cerbera and I must admit, I also
came around and now love the sound of the speed six.
Once winter is out the way and the travels have eneded, I'm TVR hunting.
Good luck.

Pleased to hear it Graham, I was quite shocked when I saw your car up for sale - not surprised it sold in a heart beat though

Thanks Jeremy.
Snap decision with head over heart, but I know it was right.
Miss the Cerbera dreadfully, but leaving it unused and under cover all winter
would have been worse.
TVR is in the blood and I'll be back.
We must meet up soon, I can't make the next meeting as I'll be in Sweden.

Graham,
I too drove Silverstone TVR's yellow T350 demonstrator and was really impressed with the 3.6 litre Speed Six's pulling power. The soundtrack isn't really TVR but I'm sure our friends in Coventry could make it sound better.
Are you going for another Cerbera or are you tempted by a T350 or a Saggy this time??

Oh yes, indeed they can make the 3.6 sound better
You're obviously speaking from 1st hand experience, so tell us what did TVR Power do to your Tamora in the soundtrack department?
