quite a few general tvr threads recently about massive improvements in handling from having the geometry checked, the inferrence being the factory doesnt do it very carefully. Mine handles great but I'm just beginning to wonder if I should spend the money anyway - u guys got any view on this?

How much does it cost for a check then?
Mine's a bit ....unstable...at times, so might be worth a look.

have hear guys spending around £50 on the check (plus up to £100 for any subsequent work). There's a good piece in July TVRCC mag inside the purple Cerbera article

Is that something my local TVR dealer should be able to do?

I think it's a highly specialist job I think, some dealers may have the kit others probably sub-contract it. The TVRCC article described a highly sophisticated outfit to get it precise, taking into account the regular driver's body weight!

On a fully adjustable car you can adjust both camber/toe in etc and cornerweight it. The latter you can only do if the springs have adjustable spring seats (don't know if they do on a Tamora).

Cornerweighting allows you to adust the balance front to rear and side to side and on my track day Taimar made a huge amount of difference as the car turned the same left and right with a single person on board (the driver). This is usually a bit extreme for road driving and is generally undertaken for track/race cars.

It is very worth ensuring that the camber and toe-in are set correctly and to do this you will need the factory recommended settings before approaching anyone to do it.

When I had a Prodrive enhanced Impreza Turbo, Prodrive had different settings for a very responsive car (good for the twisties) and another set for high speed stability. Now Prodrive (like TVR) will spend ages calculating and trialling the correct settings, if you start playing around with them without good suspension design knowledge you create an evil handling car (lethal) and may eat tyres like their going out of fashion.

I would suggest that you obtain the TVR factory settings and then get a motorsport specialist to check/adjust your car.

Any further money that you want to spend, is probably best off spent on Performance Driving/Track Day instruction rather than modding the car. Improve the driver, that'll make the car go quicker!!
