Am interested in advice for setup..Sacha/Mjc..
Still running in, but my car doesn't seem as sharp on turn in, or holding line through bend as demo I had for few days.
Dealer says no adjustment for suspension, but you guys have had geometry changes.!
Now have tyre pressures at 24 all round, have deflated after advice..
Thx

Sounds like it needs a full 4 wheel geometry check. Costs about £200 but the dealer should have done this as part of the P.D.I (yeah right!) Ask them just to check it and give you the printout. Let us know.

They are not being straight with you, as blueyes said, geometry check is the way forwards. suspension (springs/dampers) is not ajustable, but the geometry (camber, toe in/out etc..) is ajustable and there is were the difference in the handling is crucial.

Yep, same comments as Sacha - My cars PDI took about a week.... then when I took it back a week later and complained about the handling they were "amazed" to find the the geometry settings were way out as deliverd by the factory!!
Ask them to do a full geometry check on the car - it should be done as a matter of course at each service anyway....

Thanks guys. Will def have setup checked.
Should all TVR dealers (mine Dream Machine) have the right equipment to check this or should I use a specialist.? I am gonna be doing track days next year and wanna make sure it's 100%.

Hi,

Had a 4 wheel alignment undertaken on mine by the factory when it went in for its first service. It was out slightly at the front. They charged me 1 hours labour, £48.00. Completely transformed the handling. I suspect that they only set the tracking with the old manual devices on the production line? That's what they quote for as part of the standard service.

Does anyone have the actual toe/camber/whatever settings available? Not sure my dealer would know them without calling the factory ...

Mine seems to handle OK, but it's good to have the info stored away somewhere.

Ta.

What size wheels? I am running 24 front and 26 rear on 18" wheels. Handles OK but might try 24 all round.

Do not want to put a spanner in the works, but I believe that as from July 2004 they altered all of the geometry, (to stop some of the tramlining). This was also to allow 18" wheels as standard on the Tam.

That was what I was told to run when I first bought my car... since then my garage now says I should run on 24psi front and 22psi rear! When I rang TVR Service desk though they said 24psi all around..

It certainly makes a surprisingly big difference to the cars handling so I would suggest investing in a decent tyre pressure gauge so you get consistant readings when you check them. If you set them at 24psi all around to start with - you can always have a play around with slightly different pressures later on!

Have fun!

ps. 18" wheels as standard on T350

A full 4-wheel alignment check is part of the pdi and takes around 1-1.5 hours. All dealers should have the info and the equipment to carry out this vital piece of work. Camber and tracking we do with laser gauges. It could just be that your tyres are still not scrubbed in yet to give as much grip as the demo car you drove. As well as running in being for the benefit of the engine, it's for the brakes and tyres etc. Playing around with the tyre pressures can alter the feel of the car considerably, 24 all round is a good compromise and protects those lovely 18" alloys better!
Hope that this helps.

Thanks Tony/Hexham for advice, it's refreshing to see a dealer join in the forums.
Couldn't imagine a Porsche or BMW dealer doing so..!
(stand to be corrected).

Also the setting up of the car should be for your weight, in the drivers seat. If this is done you will notice a bigger difference or the track.
