I'm taking the ECU out of my T350 to fit one of Dom's remapped EPROMs. As the car is now 8 years old I was thinking it might be a good opportunity to replace the RAM back up battery that I think it has. Anyone got any tips for doing this? Is it just a question of opening up the box and replacing or is there any specific precautions that need to be taken? I read one thread where the OP indicated that he screwed up the ECU during battery replacement. It doesn't matter about losing the adaptives, I have to reset those anyway when fitting the new EPROM. Is there any special precautions for example to prevent the mileage getting lost?

Thanks

The Dallas Clock chip (DS1230) is direct beside the EPROM, so no need to open the ECU. It's as easy to change as the EPROM.

OK thanks - yep that makes sense. Is the reset procedure easy enough once this chip is changed? Think there's a certain number of steps to go through right?

Yes no problem...i changed the Chip to reset the Statistics, which can't be done from the software.

After the change, I only reset the Throttle and it started to learn new adaptive values.

Ummhhh,

Interesting. Mate of mine had a Tuscan without a battery for 6 months, when we restarted after a rebuild I checked the live screen and found a Lambda not working. New Lambda fitted, all OK, then realised it had no history, no temp/rev/low oil pressure records.

Guess related to the RAM. Figured there must be a battery. One to watch if you buy and check the logs for overheating, a suspect history could be erased.

I'm just in the process of putting back in the ECU from T350 that went underwater but not sure if I have installed the chips in the right orientation. Is someone able to confirm if they are back the right way as they were taken out by someone else and no photos were taken. Thanks.
