my tam has none, and looking at the door cards I'm not keen on the location of some that are in the middle top of the door in a "pod".

anyone done anything else?

has anyone fitted aftermarket ones?

Steve, my Tamora didn't have them either, but have not fitted some, same size as Griff fronts.

I fitted MDF speaker rings to the door cards and retrimmed the vinyl section.

You will probably find that the wires are already in the doors, but not from the stereo to the A posts...

I think this was done by Carl Baker...

If I wanted front speakers, that'd be the way to go.

Mine are TVR standard fit and I have a speaker like in the above picture although one just in the lower bit. It's a bit bigger than that though.

That looks like Karl's work. Same as Mine MB Quart Reference components.

thanks

so i have wiring in the doors, that appears to go nowhere...at least i can't find a connection from the multiplug at the back of the stereo to them with a multimeter. so where do the wires finish???

ant, what did you find when you pulled yours apart?

it looks like ive got to remove the doors to get at the wiring connector, and see where the wires in the door terminate.

did you need to run these back to the stereo, or do they just end somewhere under the dash??

all seems a bit odd to have the door loom but not the loom back to the stereo

Basically Steve, yes , doors off to expose the A post plug and socket, then run wires back to the stereo.
doors come off very easy, not the same way as the Griff...

Yes mate, undo the top M10 nut and spilt the bottom hinge by removing the M6 cap screw....
Much easier.

I'm wanting to do this as well. When I put an updated system in my Tam I made provision so that I had enough cable to run to the doors. Can you not just run the cable from the car side(if u see what I mean thro the A pillar (door Mount) then into the door following the cable path for the windows and electric mirrors?

Tbh this is just a bit of a guess I've not had a look at the passage the cable will have to take but it sounds like I'll be taking the doors off. Any one got any pickys showing where the route should run??

I also assume the tweeters piggy back of the 5" round speakers in the bottom of the door? Also the bottom part of the door card isn't flat how have people fitted the speakers flush and did you have leather replaced around that area

Any advice would be great

Cheers

Buzz

Buzz it seems there is wiring in the doors to the a puller but not from that back to the radison. Checking the plugs out., the wiring just isn't there. I will pop a door off tomorrow and see which pin connectors are blank

That way you can connect up without pulling the door off the binge to check the wiring. ........ Might try just sticking a meter in the spare holes in the connector in the footwell first and see if I can figure it out that way.

ant, did you retrim the vinyl section, or just pull it back and reattach?
