Yesterday I drove to work as usual and when I parked up I could smell some burning oil. I popped up the bonnet to have a look and some black smoke, not much, was rising up from the engine. I called the TVR Centre in Barnet (my nearest dealer but still an hour's drive away) and was told to bring the car in. Anyway, despite sitting in heavy traffic all the way there, by the time I got to the garage, there was no problem, no smell, no oil burning, no leaks, nothing to report! Embarassing! No one could say what caused this? Any ideas?

(By the way, the guys at TVR Centre were very helpful)

Yes, that was my Tam. As I was there anyway, I left it with them for a speaker upgrade and tweeters. I think they sub-contract the work to a local car audio specialist. Hope to pick it up on Friday and HOPE I can then enjoy some music at last!

Hi,

I had the same thing, it was one of the alen bolts holding on the rocker cover. Check they are tight as if not thay can leak oil and the ones near the back of the engine will drip on the exhaust.

Thanks Ed

But what/where are the "alen bolts holding on the rocker cover". I am about as handy with a screw driver as a blind tortoise with a nervous twitch!

OK, the rocker cover is the black and silver thing with TVR on it, the top bit on a normal engine although on a Tam the engine is lent over. It has lots of alen hex bolts holding it on just check they are tight. If your not confident just look for oil comming from one of the bolts directly over the hot bits and point it out to your dealer.

Maddog - can you tell me what Error Code 26 means. I've got an early '03 T350c and I keep getting it in heavy traffic. Dealer said it was from sensor installed for Climate Control and not to worry about it - is it worth a visit to get it sorted out ?

Cheers.

Dont know. They are sending ECU back to factory. To get it sorted! So no car for now.

Can't they stick a spare ECU in from another Tamora while yours is on holiday? Or is it because you have a non-standard engine, thus the ECU might damage it?
