Speedo went dead for 5 mins today, analogue and digital. Is this a sign of it packing up all together?

For me it was just a sign the speed sensor was giving up the ghost.

Maddog, did they fix it okay? Is it a known problem? and are they going to replace it with another flawed one?

My T350 is in for a service at the moment; the one glitch that the factory still apparently doesn't have a fix for is the speedo - it was one of a batch produced earler this year that reads zero above 75mph, despite any adjustment of sensor. Of course, we never venture any faster anyway, officer...

So why don't they replace the speedo unit with a new one then?

When was yours produced BTW? Mine car was built in April, speedo gubbins was probably welded together just before then. I don't have this problem.

Targarama - Mine was finished early May, looks like I only just caught the wrong batch then, but they were then fitted from then onwards; the currently available sensor is apparently no better and the factory are 'still trying to get replacement sensors asap'. A new speedo wouldn't solve it as it would still be reading incorrect info from the sensor

Anyone with a post-May T350 on here, & if so does your speedo still play beyond 75mph?

mine plays up at all speeds, before it just packed up, but now it reads 226mph and put silly mileage onto the car!

Mine went dead briefly a couple of times before packing in entirely. A new fuse fixed it initially - in case you do not already know there are some spares in the 'box of tools' and a guide to the fuse box in the manual. It has now happened again so I need to get it checked out.

I have lost count of the number of times I have been back to the garage with niggles like this but I keep smiling whenever I get in the car so what the hell!

My speedo sensor has started to play up as well - just as it did in my first Tamora. Several people have had this - I think mine has already had a new sensor fitted by the previous owner IIRC!

Still, it's a quick job to replace - I wondre if it's possible to DIY, rather than have to book in with a dealer?

Mine is not playing up yet, but where is the sensor, on the rear wheel or in the dash!.

I'm sure yours will be fine as it's working now - it's the most recent T350/Tamora/Tuscans that are affected, & there will no doubt be a warranted 'fix' from factory soon.

These type of sensors run off the prop or diff - not sure which on a T350 or Tamora, but a dealer would know.

The one on my Tuscan has never been quiet right it's ok round the first half of the speedo then stops around the next quarter then starts to work again in the last quarter.

The sensor is located on the rear diff:-

Had mine for a month and sensor didn't work above 70 from day one. Generally doesn't work at other speeds as well and flits around as it likes when it likes - makes an annoying "buzzing" noise as well as it moves so fast!

Useful to know, & even better with the pic to prove it.
