Being a newbie to TVR's and having had my T350t for just over a week now I was wondering which grade of fuel you fellow T350/Tamora owners recommend for smoothest performance?

I know that Super Unleaded (Is it Shell Optimax?) is recommended for track Days but what about every day use? I'd be very interested to hear your views.

Apologies if this subject has been posted before but thought I'd save myself the time by not going through each individual thread. If there is a previous thread then can someone point me in the right direction.

Cheers

Personally I use Shell optimax when possible. At a push BP Ultimate. In france we used Total Super 98 san Plomb. I find its not really as good on ordinary unleaded. Just my own view! But I have driven 3800 miles on this combination and it sure works!

Deffo agree with the above. I always try and use optimax or ultimate wherever possible. When I first got the car, I mainly used 95 ron, but the first 'dose' of 98 really helped things.

There was a fairly big article in the Driven section of the Sunday Times last week about how they tested various cars with premium and non premium fuel. They found no difference in performance, which does make you wonder what it does for 'normal' cars.

However, it makes a hell of a difference to the Tam. Smoother running, better acceleration and just a happier driver/car combo all round.

Only had my 350 a couple of months and generally put in BP Ultimate but have also filled up on a fair few occasions with normal unleaded.......get the odd 'pink' here and there but for general driving around town I must say it doesnt seem to make much difference.

Hi NiteOwl, hope you like yoru T350 and welcome to the TVR folds. I saw a great reg no for you once on a Chimaera L8 OWL. Oh and I always use Optimax in my Griffith, I figure that if I can afford the Griff as my weekend toy then I can afford a few quid extra on decent petrol. Rich...

Thanks for your advice guys looks like it's the higher grade stuff then.

Took the 350 down to Bedford today and put in some Optimax, I must say that the engine does sound a lot less pinky. I suppose the real difference comes after you get through the first 1000 miles.

RichB you're right, that plate would be ideal. being a poser and all that, maybe after the "54" plate is superseded by "05" I'll think about getting meself an "Owl" plate. Bet the one you saw would be a few quid though ...
